The Borrowed and Blue Murders by Merry Jones is the fourth book in the “(Zoe Hayes” thriller series Publisher: Minotaur Books, September 2008
Merry Jones’s avid readers raved about The Deadly Neighbors, her third fast-paced thriller featuring art therapist Zoe Hayes. Now the inimitable Zoe is back to save her marriage—and her life.
In the final days before Zoe’s wedding to Detective Nick Stiles, a jogger turns up murdered on Zoe’s back patio. Nick’s brothers have come for the wedding and are staying at her home, and Zoe, now the mother of two—six-year-old Molly and baby Luke—finds evidence that at least one of her future in-laws is not who he pretends to be.
When her babysitter has a breakdown, her wedding planner is attacked, and a psychotic former patient decides to come after Zoe and her family, Zoe is caught in an intricate web of intrigue and spiraling danger that threatens to destroy a lot more than just her wedding.
It is eight days before Zoe’s wedding to Nick Stiles, Luke’s father, when everything that can go wrong does. Nick’s brothers have invaded her home and Zoe can’t find a time alone for herself. A dead body is found on her door; a co-worker comatose after a hit and run; she fires her babysitter; the wedding planner wants answers; BIL is mugged and her kids are kidnapped and yet there is a wedding to attend. What a great thriller and mystery which I enjoyed. I didn’t want the story to end and I can’t wait to read more about Zoe and her family.
