Hi there. My name is Morty. Or at least that’s what Sunshine Meadows calls me. You see, she’s my pet. Trust me when I say that I own her, even if she is the human. I own the ancient Victorian house she lives in as well. Despite the entire town thinking that Vicky (that’s what Sunny calls her) is haunted, Sunny bought her anyway. Sunny’s not afraid of Vicky. She hasn’t come right out and said it, but I know she thinks that I’m the one doing the haunting. I quite enjoy the game, so for now, I do believe I’ll keep everyone guessing.

I can tell you this, though. I’m a big white cat with eyes as black as coal. It freaks people out, which I have to admit pleases me. My fur is so white it appears to glow at times. I’m having too much fun to reveal if your eyes are playing tricks on you, or if I glow for real. I also move with lightning speed. I know it baffles people, and I admit I am different, but then again, so is Sunny. She accepts for me who I am…that’s why I let her stay. Only, now I have to take care of her and protect her. I don’t like being responsible for anyone but myself. And believe me when I say living with her isn’t easy.

Sunny has a gift. She truly can predict the future. She simply misinterprets her visions a bit. In the end, she always works the details out. She loves helping people, and that’s the problem. I don’t like people. I wish she hadn’t decided to run her business, Sunny’s Sanctuary, inside the house. My house! I am very peculiar about who I let inside my house. Take Detective Mitch Stone, aka Grumpy Pants. He sets me on edge, and we butt heads a lot. Yet Sunny’s Grandma Gert I rather enjoy. She’s a bit of a flake, but all in all, she comes from good stock. And Sunny’s parents I won’t speak of at all.

The biggest problem I have with Sunny and her visions and running the business in my house is that she always lands herself in a boat load of trouble. It never fails. So in order to regain the peace I so desire, I am forced to interact with these humans and help save the day. Talk about one big headache. It actually gives me the desire to close my eyes and take a nap…too bad I don’t sleep. I’m bigger than the average cat, but I don’t eat, either. At least not normal cat food, anyway. What I do eat, you don’t really want to know. Looks like I have to go now. Sunny’s landed herself in yet another mess. You can read all about it in CORPSE IN THE CRYSTAL BALL. Until then, “Meow!”
