Pecan Pies and Homicides by Ellery Adams is the third book in the “Charmed Pie Shoppe” mystery series. Publisher: Berkley Prime Crime, January 2014
Her Charmed Pie Shoppe is open for business, but baker Ella Mae LeFaye is about to discover solving a murder is not as easy as pie.
Owning the Charmed Pie Shoppe and serving enchanted treats in the magical town of Havenwood, Georgia, seemed like a little slice of heaven for Ella Mae LeFaye. But now her hopes for both a lasting romance with Hugh Dylan and business success are starting to seem like pie in the sky, and Ella’s left wondering: Where has the magic gone?
When an enchanted grove is set ablaze, Ella realizes she has more grave problems. With her magic waning, she’s going to have to sleuth from scratch to stop an arsonist who has no respect for sacred ground—or human life.
This was the best book ever, so far. OMG! Ellery just pulls you into the affairs of the people of Havenwood, Georgia that all you want to do is move into the nearest empty house. Ella Mae and her aunts are back and she is determined to bring her mother back and when she learns of a way possible, she heads to the home of her nemesis and that is where she meets the victim who will soon be discovered near the grove.
The action that takes place during the course of solving this case was so intense that I could not put the book down as I cheered her on in her pursuits. Ellery’s was very vivid in her description, especially that underwater scene which had me riveted to the pages. From familial strength, to self-discovery to love, this book keeps you engaged from beginning to an ending that keeps a smile on your face and warmth in your heart.
