A Grave Search by Wendy Roberts is the second book in the “Bodies of Evidence” mystery series. Publisher: Carine Press, January 2018
Julie Hall is finally adjusting to her new career: locating dead bodies with dowsing rods.
The crime scene is drenched with blood, but the body is nowhere to be found.
When a grieving mother requests Julie’s help tracking the body of her missing daughter, Julie is hesitant. Not only do the circumstances sound disturbing, the job is in her hometown, a place steeped in upsetting memories and unresolved trauma. But her interest is piqued, and she takes the case, knowing she’ll have the support of her FBI agent boyfriend along the way.
Soon, Julie finds herself exactly where she doesn’t want to be—trapped in the dangerous spotlight created to keep the story in the media. And as she digs deeper into the mystery of the young woman’s death, she uncovers secrets about her own past she thought were buried forever.
This is another great addition to the series. Julie has done well for herself and is coming to terms with her capabilities and new life. That is until she finds the dead body of a long-ago friend, this being the result of following up on a woman searching for her missing daughter. Will she take the case? Of course, and thus begins a tightly woven mystery that oozes intrigue and suspense. The narrative kept me engrossed in all that was happening in this fast-paced and action-packed drama that I could not put down until I knew the outcome and boy those twist and turn moments enhanced my reading pleasure. I do enjoy her internal dialogue that adds to the person that Julie is becoming. And the ending. . .the best scenarios that put a smile on my face and warmth in my heart. This was a great read and I hope there are more adventures with Delma and Garrett.
