Addison Greyborne first appeared in Murder By The Book and one of the best ways to learn about a person is by asking questions, so let’s get to know Addison.

What is your full name?
Addison Greyborne, however my friends call me Addie.

How old are you?
I’m . . . err . . . (hand over mouth—whispering) early to mid-thirties.

What is your profession?
Previously, I worked as the research assistant to the curator of acquisitions at the Boston Public Library and now, I’m the proud owner of a bookstore that specializes in rare and used books.

Do you have a significant other?
That’s a tough one. There are two men I adore at the moment, both for very different reasons, and I’m having a hard time making a decision between them. It’s not because I’m playing games with them or being flirty. It’s because a couple of years ago, I discovered my fiancé David, murdered in our apartment in Boston. I guess you could say—for the lack of a better word—I’m still a little gun-shy.

What are their names and profession?
Marc Chandler is the Chief of Police here in Greyborne Harbor, and Doctor Simon Emerson is the area coroner, emergency-room doc and a trauma surgeon.

Do you have any children?
None at this time.

Do you have any siblings?
I was an only child, although I do have a cousin and when we were young, we were like sisters.

Do your parents live near you?
Both are deceased.

Who is your best friend?
Serena Chandler, she’s Marc’s younger sister.

Any pets?
None currently, perhaps one day.

What town do you live in?
Greyborne Harbor, Massachusetts.

Type of dwelling and do you own or rent?
I inherited a historic three-story Queen Anne Victorian.

What is your favorite spot in your home?
For cozy cool evenings, I prefer the living room in front of the fireplace. In the summer, I’d say the reading nook I’ve created on the sleeping porch off my bedroom.

Favorite meal and dessert?
Living in a harbor town, I’d have to say anything that comes from the sea. However, I’d never turn down a nice barbequed steak.

Do you have any hobbies?
Reading and researching books, although some people ask how that is a hobby since it’s a major part of my regular workday, but I enjoy it.

Favorite color?
It depends on my mood. Some days it’s fiery-red and other days it’s marine and sea-blues. I will say the only color that I’m not partial to, is orange, unless it’s a flower or part of a sunset.

Favorite author?
There’re far too many to name. However, at the top of my list would be, Agatha Christie, Arthur Conan Doyle, and Gaston Leroux, the French author of The Mystery of the Yellow Room and Phantom of the Opera.

Favorite vacation spot?
That’s a hard one. I haven’t been away on a vacation in a few years and live in a quaint sea-side town that others come to for their vacation. I suppose it’s like being on holiday every day.

Favorite sports team?
None, I’m afraid I don’t follow sports.

Movies or live theater?
They both have their place dependent on the production. I guess I could say I love an evening at the theater just as much as I love watching a good movie.

Are you a morning or a night person?
Hmm, I don’t do mornings or late nights well, so I’d have to say mid-day to evening.

Amateur or professional sleuth and whom do you work with?
I’m strictly an amateur when it comes to sleuthing, but I do get lucky once in a while thanks to my friends, Serena, Marc, Simon, and Paige Stringer my shop assistant.

In a few sentences, what is a typical day in your life like?
I know what a perfect day would look like in my fairytale life. I’d leisurely get up, have a coffee, a shower and go to my bookstore by nine a.m. The day would fly by as I helped customers, sorted inventory, shelved books, placed orders with my book distributor. You know the usual bookseller tasks. However, I’ve discovered since moving to Greyborne Harbor that is just a fantasy. In fact, my everyday life holds more plot twists than an Agatha Christie novel. Who’d have thought when I moved to a quaint little sea-side town that the research skills I honed at the Boston Public Library would also come in handy in solving a murder or two?

Proof of Murder is the fourth book in the “Beyond the Page Bookstore” cozy mystery series, released April 28, 2020.

Bookshop owner Addie Greyborne must solve a locked-room murder in a supposedly haunted mansion to recover a priceless Sherlock Holmes original . . .

The seaside New England town of Greyborne Harbor is home to many grand estates, including the Queen Anne Victorian Addie inherited from her great aunt. Now one of those mansions is holding an estate sale, which is just what the bookshop owner needs to replenish her supply of rare editions—even if the house is rumored to be haunted. Assisting an overwhelmed insurance appraiser with the inventory, Addie discovers an 1887 magazine containing Arthur Conan Doyle’s first Sherlock Holmes novel, A Study in Scarlet, which she estimates to be worth over one hundred and fifty thousand dollars.

But when Addie later finds the appraiser dead in the estate’s private library, with the door bolted from the inside, and the priceless edition missing, it’s a mystery worthy of the Great Detective himself. She’s certain the death and the robbery are connected—but who, other than a ghost who can walk through walls, could have gotten in to do the deed? It’s up to Addie to find the key to the crime—before she’s the next one cornered by a killer . . .
