Boy howdy, are things ever getting busy around these parts. Oh, hey, there. I’m Adele Jordan, proud aunt to an amazing chef and businesswoman, my niece Robbie. She’s a dang hardworking girl, puts me to shame, really.
But anyhoo, we had us quite the day last week when we headed down to the north bank of the Ohio River to the first big antique fair of the spring. Heck, we walked our dogs off and still didn’t see everything. What’s that? No, not actual hounds. I left Sloopy back on my sheep farm, and Robbie doesn’t own any animal but that bitty little cat she named Birdy.
Robbie, now, she picked herself up a whole mess of graters at the fair to resell in the pans section of Pans ‘N Pancakes, her darling country store back in South Lick. That’s in Brown County, Indiana, in case you didn’t know. Restocking her supply was pretty much our goal for the day, that and having a good old visit, just the two of us.
I tell you, though. Learning that two people I used to know are opening a fancy antiques store right across the road from Robbie’s country store kinda rubbed me the wrong way. I didn’t think there’d be much of a problem, seeing as how Robbie doesn’t sell furniture or classy stuff like they’re fixing to. She mostly draws folk in with her to-die-for breakfasts and lunches, and the vintage pans are just a cute extra, doncha know?
But when the daughter of the couple opened a breakfast and lunch food truck parked smack dab in front of the antique store, and then a sickly gentleman upped and died from one of Robbie’s omelets? Hoo-ee, sparks commenced to fly. Well, you’ll just have to take and read the story for yourself.
Now then, people are always telling me I talk so colorful. What’s your favorite phrase from an auntie or grandpa, or some kind of regional saying you’ve read? It doesn’t have to be from southern Indiana, but be sure to let us know its origin, all righty?
Robbie’s author wants to tell you she’s just dying to give away a signed copy of No Grater Crime, so come on down and comment, won’t you?

Two of my favorite things, antiques and food! Thank you for the chance!
Great author. Love her books.
I enjoy this series. It is well written and the setting is great. I wish I could eat at Robbie’s Pan’sN Pancakes.
Such a fun series! I love the whole concept of Pans N Pancakes and wish I could be a regular there!
Love this series. Thanks for the chance to win!
My maternal Grandmother, who incidentally was from Indiana (Terre Haute), would often say, “I’ve never heard such!” Congratulations on your book release – I really enjoy this series ~
Thank you so much for the chance! I live foodie cozies and my husband is from Indiana! I’d love to win!
Love the dialect writing! must have been fun to figure out how to spell some of those phrases-my grandmother lived in Swampscott and we were from the western part of the state. As kids we were always curious about her ‘accent’ , dropping r’s in so many words!
Absolutely love this series! I have listened to all of them and the narrator is great! Yay for a new book!
I’m so happy to know that one of my very favorite cozy mystery authors has another book for her readers. I’m looking forward to ordering soon. I’ve enjoyed every book written by Edith/Maddie and at the rate she is turning her great stories out I’m going to need another shelf very soon.
Thank you for the interview Dru Ann!
Yes please, I love both the Country Store and the Cozy Capers books. I’d love to add this Country Store mystery to my home library.
I am excited to read it regardless if I win.
My grandmother (from Georgia) used to say something was “scarcer than hen’s teeth” And my mother added “r”s to words. ie Warshington
Love this series! I love Adele and how she relates to Robbie. Can’t wait to read this installment of South Lick!
Oh, my goodness! Born and raised in Southern Indiana, I have a million of ’em! One of my favorites was when my grandpa was asked if he was going to an event, he’s answer, “If the crick don’t rise.” Another was, “He ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed.”
Can’t wait to read this book!!
This series sounds wonderful! My mom had all kinds of colorful phrases. One was when it was time to go somewhere and she’d say, “Are ya’ ready, Hezzie?” A few years I googled it and it turned out there was a band on the radio back in the ’30’s who would say this. The Hoosier Hot Shots. Thanks for the contest.
I love to read about food and murder.. it is normally a great read.
It’s not necessarily a favorite saying. I just never heard the saying before, and only my grandmother said it. She use to tell me that she would skin me alive. I never knew what it meant, I just knew she loved me and won’t do it, because skinning me alive would kill me. Turns out, it meant that she would spank me. I never got a spanking, so there you go.
I’m waiting impatiently for this to come in at the library
Love the clever title. Sounds like I’ve been missing a great series!
I’ve been hearing a lot about this one, sounds good!
This sounds like a really fun book. Restaurants, antiques, and murder? A winning combination. Thanks for this chance
