Hey Journal,
Today I’m gonna be visiting with Miss Love ‘cause she’s like the coolest book lady ever. I’m supposed to tell her all about my day, but I bet she doesn’t wanna know about my regular day ‘cause fifth grade can be super boring. For sure she’s gonna want to know all about the Killer Christmas Sweater Club ‘cause that’s the good stuff.
Maybe I should also tell her about the big town party and how I won the Ugly Sweater Contest. Probably, ‘cause that’s when Deputy Cunningham came in and told my dad that Mr. Waldorf was dead. Daddy tried to keep me from investigating—he says I’m sticking my nose where it doesn’t belong. But you know what, Journal? If my nose didn’t belong in the cops’ investigation, why would all these people keep getting killed in this little town?
What am I gonna tell her about my mom being here? I haven’t seen her in like forever, and now she’s come to Seaside Cove and she’s a suspect in Mr. Waldorf’s murder! Can you believe it? So now I have to clear her of a murder charge? That is totally unfair. What kind of Christmas is this turning into?
What do you think, Journal? Should I tell her about my plan to get Daddy and Marquetta together? Maybe not ‘cause that’s supposed to be a secret. I got Mr. Van Horn to put up the mistletoe, and now he says I’m responsible for getting Daddy and Marquetta under the mistletoe together. How come the ten-year-old gets stuck with the hard part of the job? I guess it’s ‘cause Mr. Van Horn owns the ladder and even at the top I’d be too short to reach the ceiling.
I guess I’m ready. Wait! Should we give away a copy of The Killer Christmas Sweater Club? Yay! That would be awesome!

He needs to solve the case. He needs to send his wife back to New York. But the one thing he doesn’t need is for his daughter to be one step ahead of him and the cops.

About the author

Alex, you are right that Dru Ann is the coolest book lady ever. I can’t wait to read The Killer Christmas Sweater Club (great cover, by the way). I have stayed at B & B’s before and really enjoy the individuality of the rooms and the great breakfasts. My favorite was one where the owner had fresh-baked homemade cookies in glass jars in every room of the house for her guests – YUM!

I loved the bread & breakfasts we stayed at in England most of which were in family homes. The extra of visiting & often eating with the families was wonderful.

We just stayed in an awesome historic B&B this September on Mackinac Island. I loved the breakfast there! It was so fun to visit with other tourists at the big dining room table. The innkeepers went above and beyond my expectations with such an awesome spread (another we stayed at in Charleston had just croissants and rolls, stuff like that) And they were super nice people with helpful hints about how to enjoy our island stay. Hi Tari, as you’ve discovered, each one is different. We’ve stayed at some where they served full breakfasts and others where it was very scaled down. We even stayed at one where they didn’t do breakfast at all! Not sure how they got the title of B&B, but it was a good stay anyway. Thanks for stopping by.
