Dru’s Short Musing:
When her scumbag of a husband re-enters her life, not only was he dead by bullets, but he put her life in danger when he slips an item into her possession. Now she is on the run for her life trying to return said item to its lawful owner without being killed.
Thus begins a cat and mouse game between Cordelia and those who want the merchandise. The author had created a rollercoaster ride that I could not get off until all was said and done. The mystery was nicely executed keeping me in suspense from first page to the conclusion. This well-written tome with its crisp writing and comfortable tone made it easy to follow the path the author has staged. Elements of both cozy and thriller genre are dispensed in the telling of this fast-paced drama where every corner turned, Cordelia and a companion she can’t get rid of, an incident or two are perpetrated and the team are on the run again when their life is threatened. The search for the person behind it all reached a climax when it all came barreling down and Cordelia’s innate knowledge prevails and the killer’s identity is finally revealed. Overall, this was an engaging and entertaining read, and I can’t wait to see what adventures await Cordelia.
