Emma Anderson sits down for a question-and-answer session with dru’s book musings so that we can learn more about her. Let’s get to know Emma.
What is your full name?
Emma Helene Anderson
How old are you?
I’m 31.
What is your profession?
I’ve recently started working as a crime beat photographer for ErieLIVE, an online news outlet.
Do you have a significant other?
Yes.
What is their name and profession?
Matthias Honeywell is a police detective in Erie, PA.
Do you have any children?
No.
Who is your best friend?
Eric Baker has been my best friend since we were kids.
Do you have cats, dogs, or other pets?
I used to have horses and cats, but sadly, I don’t have any pets at the moment.
What town do you live in?
Erie, Pennsylvania.
What type of dwelling do you own or rent?
I have a 17-foot camper on a leased site at Sara’s Campground.
What is your favorite spot in your home?
It’s not very big, so I’m going to say my covered deck. It’s the only spot that doesn’t feel a little claustrophobic.
What is your favorite meal and dessert?
I love curry. For dessert, cheesecake!
Do you have any hobbies?
My photography isn’t really a hobby. But I still love taking pictures outside of work. Also, I enjoy riding my bike.
What is your favorite vacation spot?
Anyplace in Colorado. It’s gorgeous out there.
What is your idea of a really fun time?
Spending a lazy weekend with Matthias, watching movies on Netflix.
If you were to write a memoir, what would you call it?
In Search of Nell. It feels like I’m constantly trying to find my younger sister.
Amateur or professional sleuth and whom do you work with?
Amateur. I don’t think of myself as a sleuth, but I do get drawn into cases that Matthias is working on (which answers your second question). Or he gets drawn into stuff I stumble into.
What is a typical day in your life like?
If I wake up early enough, I take a quick bike ride around the Peninsula, then I grab a shower and drive downtown to ErieLIVE’s offices. I’m usually assigned to tag along with one of the reporters and take photos to go with their stories. After work, Matthias and I might get to spend some time together, but his job is unpredictable, so my second option is going back to the campground to relax.

Thanks for hosting Emma today, Dru!
Congrats on the book, Annette!
Thanks, Diane!
TIL Emma’s middle name. Thank you for bringing Cassie into the foreground; she is such a strong person, and now I know why and more about her family. This novel had me wishing
there is a better word than scrolling because reading fast enough meant speed scrolling.
Great job!
There’s a story behind Emma’s middle name. Coralee, you know me. There’s a story behind EVERYTHING.
