Sometimes the best way to know a person is by asking questions, where you can learn more about what makes them tick. Let’s see who we have today.

What is your name?
– – Arabella Carpenter

How old are you?
– – My fortieth birthday is on the immediate horizon.

What is your profession?
– – Co-owner of the Glass Dolphin antiques shop.

Do you have a significant other?
– – Oh, that’s complicated. I have a love-hate-love relationship with my ex-husband, Levon Larroquette. Levon is an antiques picker.

Any children?
– – No

Do you have any sibling(s)?
– – None that I’ll admit to.

Cats, dogs or other pets?
– – No, but I’m thinking about getting a dog.

What town do you live in?
– – Lount’s Landing. You’ve probably never heard of it. It’s a small town about ninety minutes north of Toronto, Canada.

Do you rent or own?
– – Rent. Sigh.

House or building complex?
– – I live in a rental apartment in midtown, and the shop is in a converted warehouse on historic Main Street.

What is your favorite spot in your house?
– – The front porch.

Who is your best friend?
– – My business partner, Emily Garland.

Amateur sleuth or professional?
– – Amateur.

Whom do you work with when sleuthing?
– – Emily Garland.

Favorite meal?
– – The Full Noose Nachos at my favorite pub, The Hanged Man’s Noose.

Favorite dessert?
– – Shortbread cookies.

Favorite hobby?
– – Researching the history behind an antique object.

Favorite vacation spot?
– – Northern Ontario’s Lake Superior. In the U.S., that area of Michigan is called the Upper Peninsula.

Favorite color?
– – Indigo blue, which also happens to be the color of Levon’s eyes. Hardly seems fair, does it?

Favorite author?
– – Shouldn’t I say Judy Penz Sheluk since she’s the one in charge of my life? Okay, I won’t. Thinking, thinking, thinking. . . John Sandford (Prey and Virgil Flowers series) because the way he paces a novel is nothing short of brilliant and he never disappoints.

Favorite sports team?
– – Toronto Maple Leafs. They’re going to win the Stanley Cup this year.

Movies or Broadway?
– – Movies.

Are you a morning or a night person?
– – Morning, but not super early! 7:00 a.m. is my preferred wake-up time.

In a few sentences, what is a typical day in your life like?
– – I wake up at 7 a.m., get showered and changed, then walk 20 minutes to my antiques shop on Main Street, stopping at the Sunrise Café for a toasted cinnamon raisin bagel and coffee to go. I work at the shop 6 days a week, alternating shifts with Emily, though sometimes we’ll have a friend mind the store if we’re off sleuthing.

You can read about Arabella in A Hole In One, the second book in the “Glass Dolphin” mystery series. The first book in the series is The Hanged Man’s Noose.

When the Glass Dolphin antiques shop agreed to sponsor a hole in one contest at the Miakoda Falls Golf & Country Club “Kids Come First” charity golf tournament, co-owners Arabella Carpenter and Emily Garland never dreamed it would bring them anything but positive publicity. That is until Arabella’s errant tee shot on the third hole landed in the woods—right next to a dead man with a gunshot wound in the middle of his chest. A dead man they soon learn is closely related to Arabella’s ex-husband, Levon Larroquette, who had been acting as the Course Marshal.

With means, opportunity, and more than enough motive, Levon soon becomes the police department’s prime suspect, leaving Arabella and Emily determined to clear his name—even if they’re not entirely convinced of Levon’s innocence.

The duo’s investigation leads them to a mysterious cult, Emily’s ex-fiancée and the woman he left her for, an Elvis impersonator, and a “going out of business” antiques mall vendor with a secret of her own. Along the way, an anonymous blogger complicates their lives even further with online posts rife with rumor, innuendo, and accusation.
