I’m in the unusual predicament of not really knowing what an ordinary day is like anymore. Do y’all know what I mean? Sometimes life changes quite abruptly and ordinary is put on hold.
I can tell you what an ordinary day was like. I was a curator at an art museum in Atlanta. My day was full of appraising folk art (my specialty) and arranging traveling exhibits.
But then I retired and moved to the tiny town of Dappled Hills, North Carolina, to be near my daughter. In my mind, life would be filled with paperback books, hammocks, and lazy afternoons on the sofa with a snoozing corgi nearby.
Instead, it’s been a veritable whirlwind of activity, mostly centered around—believe it or not—a quilting guild. You’d think that a quilt guild would be composed of placid ladies of a certain age gently creating heirloom-quality art. You’d be right about the art, but wrong about the placid. My very first day in town I was kidnapped (sort of) by the ringleader of the quilt guild. Soon, another guild member ended up dead and most of the guild were suspects.
I’m determined to get to the bottom of this murder, especially since our chief of police would rather be reading poetry than solving cases. It’s up to me to get everything back to normal in Dappled Hills—so I can find out exactly what an ordinary day here is!

I haven’t read any of this series, though I am familiar with the author from her other series and I like her writing style. I enjoy all quilting series and especially if it’s connected to a Cozy mystery. I would love to win a copy of this book. Thanks for giving us the chance.

I love trying out new cozy series…thanks for the opportunity to win one! kuzlin(at)aol(dot)com.
Thanks for participating and letting us know about Beatrice. It is the next book on my reading list and I can’t wait to see how it all ends.
great cover! Amazing read. Congrats Elizabeth. A quilting guild for fun characters, what could be better.
Quilts are an interesting folk art… I attended the yearly Redwing Indian Pow Wow last weekend. One of the booths had a lovely hand made quilt on sale… it was $900.00 ! I think that shows the value of a well made quilt. I’d love to win a copy of this book to add to my library.

I do so enjoy a good story featuring a sleuth who is retired! Yay for all of us old folks! It sounds like you have another series off to a great start.

I love reading a new cozy author’s books. Usually, I get hooked on the series. I love going to see quilts at quilt shows. The protangonist is so right, you would think retirement would be so quiet and uneventful. But it sure isn’t. Thank you for the chance to win this one.

Thanks, y’all. I’ve loved going to quilt shows and talking to quilters–these quilts really are works of art!
Retirement can be a tough adjustment, I think! At least, it’s been that way with the folks in my family.
I’d love to start reading this series! It’s sounds perfect for someone older like myself!

I love the new protagonist and the setting of Dappled Hills. Would love to read this book, too. If I don’t win it, it’ll be on my list. Thanks for the heads up. 🙂
Aww, Beatrice, you’re my kind of gal. Can’t wait to read more.

My late friend, Eve, and I once attempted a marathon quilt. That is, she thought it would take us (me) ages to finish it. I made quillows faster, but she was right. I’ll always love quilts and the memories they bring. Lots of writers’ works take place in No. Carolina. Must go there some time 🙂
Thanks for the chance to win a copy.

I am soooo incompetent with a needle or sewing machine—but I so admire people who can be creative with them—I’d love to read this cozy.

Thanks, everyone! And Judy–hope you’ll make it over to NC sometime. It’s a great place to visit…beaches *and* mountains here. 🙂
this looks like a great series. i have not read this authors work before.
Love coz-mysteries.
I always enjoy it when an author I like starts a new series. Even though I can’t quilt, it’s great fun to read about quilting. Best of luck with the new series.

I’m looking forward to reading this one.
This looks like another fun new series. Look forward to checking it out. Thanks for the giveaway! 🙂
I think quilting would be hard. I can do cross-stitch (stamped only, with the X’s). There aren’t too many quilting mysteries around, but I did find one at a book sale once.
