Brynn Callahan first appeared in Splintered Silence and one of the best ways to learn about a person is by asking questions, so let’s get to know Brynn.

What is your name?
Brynn Callahan

How old are you?
Late twenties, but several tours of duty have aged me.

What is your profession?
I’m a Marine veteran turned civilian cop.

Do you have a significant other?
I wish.

Any children?
I hope to be married and have children one day. I need to get my life in order first.

Do you have any sibling(s)?
No

Do your parents live near you?
I live with my grandparents. But many of my relatives live near me. We’re a tight-knit clan.

Who is your best friend?
My canine partner, Wilco. He’s the best friend a girl could ever have.

What town do you live in?
Bone Gap, Tennessee, a desolate, sparsely populated area of Appalachia.

House or building complex? Own or Rent?
I’m an Irish Traveller. I prefer to stay mobile. Currently, we’re somewhat settled, but that could change at any time.

What is your favorite spot in your house?
I try not to get too attached to dwellings. There is a beautiful spot in the mountains not far from where I live that is very special to me.

Favorite meal? Favorite dessert?
Bangers and Irish brown bread.

Favorite hobby?
Wilco is a cadaver dog. I spend my free time keeping up with his training.

Favorite color?
Green, of course.

Favorite author?
I haven’t spent much time reading.

Favorite vacation spot?
I’ve never been on a vacation. My youth was spent travelling from state to state looking for cash paying jobs. Vacation was something other people did. Settled people.

Favorite sports team?
A lot of the guys in the clan like to bare knuckle box. It’s brutal and bloody, but some might call it a sport.

Movies or Broadway?
What is Broadway?

Are you a morning or a night person?
Depends if I’ve been drinking or not. Hard to get out of bed when you’ve tied one over.

Amateur sleuth or professional?
I’m a cop. That’s all I’ve ever known. That’s all I ever want to be.

Whom do you work with when sleuthing?
Wilco is my partner. Best damn HRD (human remains detection) dog there ever was. Best friend there ever was. He’s my lifeline.

In a few sentences, what is a typical day in your life like?
No day is ever the same for me. I could get called in on a case at any time. When I’m not working, I’m spend time with my dog or helping my family.

You can read more about Brynn in Shattered Justice, the third book in the “Bone Gap Travellers” thriller series, coming December 31, 2019.

In the Appalachian town of Bone Gap, Tennessee, backwoods justice is more than just blind. It’s swift, silent, and shockingly personal. Especially for Irish Traveller turned deputy sheriff Brynn Callahan . . .

“Hear No Evil.”
The first message is found in a playground. A few feet away, a pair of human ears hang from the monkey bars. Deputy sheriff Brynn Callahan isn’t sure what to make of this grisly scene. Do the ears belong to a murder victim? And if so, where is the body? One thing Brynn is sure of: the earring on one of the earlobes belongs to a man she met at a party the previous night. . .

“Speak No Evil.”
The second message is discovered next to a human tongue on a park pavilion. Once again, no body is found. Brynn can’t help but wonder if the crimes are rooted in the town’s long-simmering tensions between Bone Gap locals and the barely tolerated Travellers who’ve settled there.

“See No Evil.”
For Brynn, the investigation hits too close to home—forcing her to confront the demons of her own past. But time is running out. Brynn has to track down the culprit before a third message is delivered—and a third victim is claimed. Rich, atmospheric, and brilliantly chilling, Shattered Justice is the third Bone Gap Travellers novel from the acclaimed author of Splintered Silence and Fractured Truth.
