My name is Deputy Candace Carson of the Mercy Police Department in upstate South Carolina. A few years ago the woman who was to become my best friend moved to Mercy from Texas. We’ve been through a bunch a stuff together ever since, mostly murder investigations. I’m talking about Jillian Hart and let me tell you, if there’s a cat in trouble, she’s your girl.
She’s curious as a cat herself and a bit older than me. She’s taught me a lot about patience and kindness and just how far those two traits can get you if you’re hunting for the truth. Just lately we had a case in that old fallin’ down mill on the outskirts of Mercy—The Lorraine Stanley Textile Mill. Some folks say it’s haunted. Some folks say it’s a plain old mess. And we all found out soon enough cats had taken up residence. Why not? Plenty of rodents to be had in there. And who better than to walk into that old building and make things right for those cats? Jillian, of course.
Little did she know what she’d find in there besides cats who needed rescuing. That’s where I came in. Evidence is my thing—I love picking through the pieces of a crime. This is a terrific series. I have been reading it from the first book. This one sounds equally interesting. I am a cat lover, as well as a mystery buff, so this combines my two loves together. The author does a wonderful job at keeping you in suspense as to the identity of the villain until the very end and I find the characters to be very realistic and well rounded. I recommend this series, and this author to anyone who loves a good Cozy mystery.
