Hey, everyone! Influencer Coco Cline, here. So happy to be back visiting dru’s book musings. 🥰
After my first unmasking of a murderer went viral in #FollowMe for Murder, life in Central Shores, Delaware, has only just started to quiet back down. Not that my life was ever really that quiet, to begin with. My lifestyle blog, Trending Topic, recently surpassed three million subscribers, and my social media marketing business, Center of Attention, is more in-demand than ever.
So, with everything I’m juggling, my workdays usually start pretty early.
After waking up in my beautiful beachside condo, the first task I take care of is my “social media due diligence.” I owe all my success as an influencer and blogger to my followers, so I need to ensure I’m keeping them happy. 🤩 Whether by replying to their comments, retweeting their mentions, or sharing new content, I do my best to engage with my online fanbase as often as possible. It’s truly amazing to read how my content has helped or entertained people from all over the world.
Yet, these days, managing Trending Topic is getting harder due to my busy schedule. While I still love my blog to bits, I’ve completely fallen head over heels for the consulting work I do through Center of Attention. It’s so rewarding to help small business owners increase their online footprint and gain more customers in the process. I’ve learned boatloads about social media over the years, and it only makes sense to share that knowledge with others. If I happen to benefit financially from it a little bit, even better. 😉
So, once I’ve visited Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc., I dive into my CoA work. This can mean prepping an online marketing trends webinar or visiting a client in person. While webinars are a huge timesaver, I thrive working alongside people. Not to mention the fun and unique businesses I get to check out. Right now, I’m helping a brother-sister duo who have launched an aromatherapy store. I always leave their place feeling refreshed and smelling great!
Of course, it isn’t all sunshine and daisies in my life. While I was looking forward to spending a fabulous summer with my besties and my dreamy boyfriend, I now have to tiptoe around the condo development because of my new next-door neighbors, the Dunmers. Larry Dunmer has got to be the nastiest person I’ve ever met in real life. 😡 I didn’t know trolls like him existed outside of Twitter. His wife, Rosalynn, isn’t much better. They’re terrorizing our little community with rude demands, offensive comments, and grimy actions. So, I try to keep my distance from them as much as humanly possible.
Luckily, I’ve been able to stay out of the Dunmers’ way by helping my mom prepare for the upcoming Salute to Summer festival. As the new town council chair, Mom is in charge of the annual Central Shores Fourth of July celebration. She’s doing a fantastic job, but I’ll admit, I’ll be glad when this is over so she can breathe freely again! Organizing all the vendors and events going on down at the beach sounds super stressful. 😬 But I’m helping her however I can when it comes to marketing all that Salute to Summer has to offer.
I’m also keeping busy by consulting for the Central Shores Police Department. After assisting—all right, more like interfering with—their last murder investigation, I’ve taken on the role of police PR spokesperson. It sounds much more glamorous than it is, though. I just keep the PD’s website updated and share public safety announcements when necessary.
Yet, I’m ready to jump into action the moment Chief McInnis and the team need me, should Central Shores ever have another murder mystery on its hands…

When murder trends too close to home, social media influencer Coco Cline will have to swipe through a sea of trolls to tag a killer.
After cracking her first case, Cordelia “Coco” Cline’s life is finally getting back to normal—or as normal as life can be when you have over three million followers online. With a thriving business, a devoted boyfriend, and her two besties living right up the street, Coco is set to have the most fun summer of her life until Larry and Rosalynn Dunmer move into the condo next door.
Coco and her friends do their best to avoid the confrontational duo, but when a party at a swanky new wine bar brings everyone together, things become less than neighborly faster than a celebrity-themed hashtag goes viral. Larry levels some super shady threats toward Coco and her BFF Jasper, which could have dire consequences for their multimedia empires. Just as Coco begins to wonder if she’ll have to spend the rest of the summer looking over her shoulder, she gets a shocking request from police. As part of her PR gig with the Central Shores PD, they need her to come to the beach and keep the public at bay. A body has washed ashore.
Thinking a poor swimmer drowned just before the Salute to Summer festival kicks off, Coco arrives to find Larry Dunmer, dead with a corkscrew sticking out of his neck. What’s even more unbelievable is that Jasper quickly shoots to the top of Chief McInnis’s suspect list. In full-on panic mode, Coco decides to use her tech-savvy sleuthing skills to clear her best friend’s name before his rep is ruined. She soon discovers that Larry made quite a few enemies during his very short stay in town. But who hated him enough to kill him?
Return to the beaches of Central Shores as Coco Cline and her squad assemble to catch a killer before they get canceled…permanently.
