Sometimes the best way to know a person is by asking questions, so let’s meet Connie.
What is your name?
Connie Winters.
How old are you?
Well, I’m sure my mother told me it was rude to ask a lady’s age. I’m not as old as I look, let’s put it that way. What can I say? I must have had a tough life.
What is your profession?
I’m a medium. I genuine, real, no imitation medium. I see dead people. . . more often than I’d like, sometimes. And I pass on messages between the living and the dead. . . if the dead feel like answering my call.
Do you have a significant other?
Ha. Nope. Where on Earth do you think I’d find the time for a significant other?
Any children?
Sadly, no.
Do you have any sibling(s)?
My sister, Sage, died twenty years ago. And she hasn’t stopped bugging me since.
Cats, dogs or other pets?
I’m between pets right now. That may change soon.
What town do you live in?
I live in Mystic Springs, where things definitely go bump in the night. It’s a small town in the USA, surrounded by mountains and featuring natural springs that may, or may not, have healing properties, depending on who y’all talk to.
House or building complex?
I live in a pretty little house but I spend a lot of my time out on the veranda watching the world go by.
Do you rent or own?
You really are getting kinda personal, huh?
What is your favorite spot in your house?
The veranda, if that counts. I’m English, by the way, and in England we have neither the weather nor the culture of outdoor living. So getting me a veranda was a pretty special moment. I have a rocking chair out there and a big box of blankets to wrap myself in if the night gets cool. What more does a gal need?
Who is your best friend?
My sister. But don’t tell her I told you that.
Amateur sleuth or professional?
Oh, most definitely amateur. And reluctant!
Whom do you work with when sleuthing?
Patton Davey is the Sheriff. He’s dead, so he needs my help. And Atticus Hornblower, the dead mayor, always gets involved. And, of course, if I’m doing something, my sister has to join in.
Favorite meal?
If I said salad, you’d look at my waistline and not believe me, but I really do love fresh foods. The trouble is I love all of the… ooh, I just saw your next question. . .
Favorite dessert?
I’m not sure I ever met a dessert I didn’t like. In fact, I love dessert so much that once I eat it, it seems to stick to my body forever. . .
Favorite hobby?
Reading, of course. Reading lets me relax and unwind, forget about my problems and learn new things.
Favorite vacation spot?
I haven’t had a vacation for a long time… you know, maybe I should think about one. . .
Favorite color?
I love bright colours. Reds and purples!
Favorite author?
Agatha Christie is my home girl.
Favorite sports team?
Ugh. Snoozeville. . . next question!
Movies or Broadway?
Movies!
Are you a morning or a night person?
I’m an early bird.
In a few sentences, what is a typical day in your life like?
I like to start every day by going for a walk around town, which is normally empty at that time. Most days, I have at least one client meeting and so I get home and welcome my client, and try to channel the spirit they want to reach. Those meetings can be really short or pretty long, and they’re normally intense. I’m very tired after! So, if I have my way, the rest of the day is for relaxing. . . it rarely happens that way, though!
You can read about Connie in The Ghosts of Mystic Springs, the first book in the NEW “Mystic Springs” paranormal mystery series.
Welcome to Mystic Springs, where things definitely go bump in the night.
As the town’s medium, Connie Winters is the only person who can see the ghosts who call Mystic Springs home.
When young temptress Lola is killed, the dead Mayor and the dead Sheriff are determined to investigate, and since they’ve never been replaced, they’d better get on with it. But they need Connie’s help. And if Connie’s helping, her sister Sage is going to get involved too – she’s beautiful, slim, and twenty years dead.
It may be the first time in history that a murder-solving squad is a mixture of real live people and real dead ghosts. Connie, and the residents of Mystic Springs, will be forced to question everything they thought they knew.
This is a full-length paranormal cozy mystery. Spooky not scary. Lighthearted and fun.
