Hey there, everybody. I’m Corrine Beedle, otherwise known as Madam Mayor. Yep, I’m the duly elected person in charge here in our little town of South Lick, which is nestled in the hills of Brown County, the prettiest corner of the entire state of Indiana.

Normally, we don’t get a whole heck of a lot of excitement in these parts. But let me tell you, when St. Patrick’s Day rolled around this year, that’s exactly what popped up — in the form of a corpse.

All’s I was asked to do was be a judge for the Irish cooking competition my favorite chef, Robbie Jordan, was hosting in her country store restaurant, Pans ’N Pancakes. Not that I got a drop of Irish blood in my veins, mind you, but what the hey? As a tall lady, I’m hungry a lot, and I sure do love me some good food, no matter where it comes from. They were even going to televise the contest, so I fluffed my hair and wore my highest heels that day.

I finished my morning staff meeting and strolled myself on down to the store in plenty of time. But, oh my stars and nightgown, nobody could locate the producer, the lady running the show. Being both responsible and inquisitive, Robbie took and brought the other judge, our own Lieutenant Bird, upstairs to the rooms she lets out. They found Miz Moore, surely enough, but she was as dead as a post.

Being as how Robbie’s husband, Abe, was one of the contestants, the police included him in their pool of people to take a close look at. We couldn’t have that, now, could we? As it turned out, I had a small little bit to contribute to the investigation. I drove Robbie on up to Indy to check out a drag show my boyfriend and I like go to.

It turned out Miz Moore had had more issues than a magazine stand, and all kinds of shenanigans transpired before the killer was caught. But right now I have to get me over to a ribbon-cutting ceremony, so you’re going to have to up and read the book to find out what happened.

You take care, now. I’ll see you around South Lick!

The eleventh installment in Maddie Day’s deliciously popular Country Store cozy mysteries . . . It’s Saint Patrick’s Day in South Lick, Indiana, but a holiday cooking competition at Robbie Jordan’s country store and restaurant Pans ’N Pancakes is put on the back-burner when a killer strikes.

There’s no mistaking Saint Patrick’s Day at Pans ’N Pancakes. Robbie may only be Irish by marriage to Abe O’Neill, but the shelves of vintage cookware in her southern Indiana store are draped with glittery shamrocks and Kelly-green garlands and her restaurant is serving shepherd’s pie and Guinness Beer brownies. The big event, however, is a televised cooking competition to be filmed on site.

Unfortunately, someone’s luck has run out. Before the cameras start rolling, tough-as-nails producer Tara O’Hara Moore is found upstairs in her B&B room, bludgeoned apparently by the heavy hilt of a cleaver left by her side. Now, not only does Robbie have a store full of festive decorations, she’s got a store full of suspects . . .
