Courtney Archer sits down for a Q&A with dru’s book musings responding to twenty or more questions so that we can learn more about her. So, let’s get to know Courtney.
What is your full name?
Courtney Anastasia Archer
How old are you?
I’m 29 and holding. It’s hard for me to believe my next birthday is the big 3-0!
What is your profession?
I’m a trained chef. My specialty is carving fruits and vegetables. However, I make my living as a television cooking star. I host Cooking with the Farmer’s Daughter and co-host The American Baking Battle.
Do you have a significant other?
Umm. . .I’m working on it. I recently saw my producer in a swoon-worthy light and there’s a hunky security guard on the set of the American Baking Battle.
What is their name and profession?
My producer is Eric Iverson. We’ve known and worked together for a long time. I’ve just met Drake Nolan. Although there is a physical attraction, murder keeps postponing our dates.
Do you have any children?
I have no children.
Do you have any siblings?
I’m a lonely only.
Are your parents nearby?
My parents home base is Chicago where I live, however my father is involved with Doctors without Borders, so I go long periods of time without seeing them.
Who is your best friend?
Eric is my best friend. He always has my back.
Do you have any pets?
Currently, no.
What town do you live in?
I live in Chicago where we film Cooking with the Farmer’s Daughter. The American Baking Battle is filmed on location at Coal Castle Resort found in the beautiful Pocono Mountains.
Do you live in a small town or a big city?
In the heart of a big city.
Type of dwelling and do you own or rent?
I own a condo in a trendy neighborhood.

My kitchen. I test recipes and hone my carving skills.
Favorite meal and dessert?
Lemon chicken piccata with side of sautéed broccolini. My all-time favorited dessert is German chocolate cake.
Do you have any hobbies?
I collect vintage Pyrex baking ware. Pink is my favorite. I browse thrift and antique stores trying to find it. It’s more fun than ordering it off online auction sites.
What is your favorite vacation spot?
Seattle, Washington. I love visiting the Pike Place Market for all kinds of fresh seafood in addition to all their fabulous restaurants. Do you know they have a chocolate indulgence walking tour? It’s so sweet! (Pun intended!).
What music do you listen to?
Country music and soundtracks of Broadway musicals.
Do you have a favorite book?
I do! My Grandmother’s original Betty Crocker Cookbook. It has fun, and accurate, baking tips not to mention delicious recipes.
What is your idea of a really fun time?
Bowling against Eric. Not in a league or anything, we have friendly wagers, trash talk and a lot of laughs.
If you were to write a memoir, what would you call it?
Hmmm. . .I don’t know. Maybe NOT YOUR TYPICAL FARMER’S DAUGHTER?
Amateur or professional sleuth and whom do you work with?
I am an amateur sleuth. I run my suspicions past Eric and Shannon Collins, a judge on The American Baking Battle, then I present them to County Sheriff Milton Perry. He ‘pretends’ I’m not helpful. We both know that’s not true!
In a few sentences, what is a typical day in your life like?
When we are filming The American Baking Battle, I’m on set by 6 AM. Once the contestants start their challenge, I’m free to perfect recipes for my television show. Of course, if a crime happens, I use my free time between takes to follow clues, interview suspects, and solve the murder.
Finished Off in Fondant is the second book in the “Courtney Archer” cozy mystery series, coming December 1, 2020.
Despite a few early hiccups, Courtney is thrilled with her starring role on The American Baking Battle, filmed at a grand resort in the Pocono Mountains. The icing on the cake? The new season has a wedding theme—complete with formalwear. But the first day on set, the producer seems to care more about profits than pastry—and the topper comes when her cohost Skylar falls ill. Little does she know things are about to end in tiers . . .
When a barely coherent, blood-covered Skylar is discovered at the doorway of his room, Courtney is horrified to walk inside and find a towering wedding cake—thoroughly smashed by the body of a woman in a bridal gown. Now suspicion is filling the studio and falling on Skylar, and Courtney has to look at coworkers and contestants, working through layers of deception to find the real culprit . . .
