I am excited to share with you the cover for the second book in the “Brie Hooker” mystery series from Henery Press, coming June 5, 2018.

Title: Picked Off
Series: Brie Hooker #2
Genre: Cozy
Publisher: Henery Press
Website: Linda Lovely
It’s been seven months since Brie Hooker, a vegan, moved to Udderly Kidding Dairy to live with her feisty Aunt Eva, a confirmed carnivore. But tonight there’ll be no family feud over dinner entrees. Udderly’s hosting a campaign fundraiser for Eva’s best friend, who hopes to be South Carolina’s next governor. The candidate’s son, a pro quarterback, is flying home for the wingding. And Brie’s eager to get a close-up view of the cute tush she’s admired on TV, even though she’s reluctantly sworn off even more tempting local beefcake.
The campaign fundraiser promises to be a huge success until a pitchfork attack turns the goat farm into a crime scene—again. To protect her friends, Brie puts her sleuthing skills to work. Will she live long enough to find out who’s behind a vicious assault, a kidnapping, blackmail, and murder?
Giveaway: Leave a comment below for your chance to win an advanced reader copy (ARC) of Picked Off. U.S. entries only, please. The giveaway ends March 7, 2018. Good luck everyone!
About the author
Over the past five years, hundreds of mystery/thriller writers have met Linda Lovely at check-in for the annual Writers’ Police Academy, which she helps organize. Lovely finds writing pure fiction isn’t a huge stretch given the years she’s spent penning PR and ad copy. She writes a blend of mystery and humor, chuckling as she plots to “disappear” the types of characters who most annoy her. Quite satisfying plus there’s no need to pester relatives for bail. Picked Off is the second humorous installment in her new Brie Hooker Mystery series. Set on a goat farm in Upstate South Carolina, the series offers good-natured salutes to both her vegan family doctor and her cheese-addicted kin. Lovely, an active member of Sisters in Crime, served as her local chapter’s president for five years. She also belongs to International Thriller Writers and Romance Writers of America.
All comments are welcomed.
Sounds like a fun read to me.
I certainly had a lot of fun writing PICKED OFF. Fun research about topics ranging from fantasy football and drones to mule behavior.
I haven’t read any of Linda Lovely’s books yet. Thank you for this chance.
The Brie Hooker Mystery series is populated with lots of interesting characters. Brie is a vegan but that’s not what defines her. She’s talented, tolerant, curious and stubborn. Traits that come in handy for someone thrown into the middle of a mystery.
This series sounds fun! Thanks for the chance to win a copy of the book!
You’re welcome! Good luck.
Looking forward to reading this. I enjoyed the first in the series.
Daniele, so glad you enjoyed BONES TO PICK. I just signed up for another goat yoga session at Split Creek Dairy. Had so much fun the first time and a goat yoga scene will definitely be included in the third book of the series.
I loved meeting Brie and the whole cast of characters in BONES TO PICK and am really looking forward to their next adventures. Reminiscent of Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum — an accidental heroine and two hot hunks nearby.
Can’t tell you how much I appreciate the compliment!
I didn’t know you published a book. I just ordered Bones to Pick, looking forward to reading it, sounds like fun. Congratulations to you for getting published. I sure miss Sisters in Crime meetings.
Take care,
Bev Garrison
Miss you at SinC meetings, too. Had a terrific one this past week. Former FBI agent spoke about unsolved cold cases. Hope you enjoy Bones To Pick.
Would be thrilled to get an early copy of Linda’s latest publication. Enjoy the accomplishments of our hometown author celebrity. Keep up the good work, Linda.
Thanks, Carol. Though my heroine and her family now live in Upstate South Carolina, it’s no surprise that they’re all native Iowans.
Cute cover, Linds! Love Udderly Kidding, and tweeted this out. Congratulations!
Thanks so much, Marni! Excited about your upcoming book, too! Loved the first Trudy Genova Manhattan mystery.
Sounds like a book & series I need to read now. Thanks for the review & giveaway.
We all have To Be Read piles, so authors love hearing someone say they need to read a book “now.” Good luck with the drawing.
I’ve read Linda’s books before and this sounds like a fun one. Looking forward to it.
Thanks, Lynette. Appreciate it.
Cheeses! Another hottie interested in Brie? Lucky sleuth.
Holy Havarti, Sally. There is a new hunk in town. But as every fiction author knows most hunks come packaged with a mystery.
It’s a beautiful cover Linda! Wishing great success.
Thanks. Have been at a baby shower so forgive me for not keeping up with all the comments. Happy you like the cover.
I hadn’t heard of this series before, so I’m intrigued. I love the name of the dairy! Thanks for the giveaway. I’m going to put these books on my TBR now.
I researched dairy names. Originally thought of Just Kidding but the name was already taken. It seems goat dairy farmers do have a sense of humor.
Love the reference to the tempting tush!
Libby, there are plenty of temptations for Brie–and a number of my readers have said they’re betting on which temptation wins out.
Your books sounds great, Linda. Can’t wait to read it! Hope to see you at this years’ WPA!
Melanie, count on it. I’m handling the registration again and working with Howard on other Writers’ Police Academy stuff. Look forward to seeing you, too.
I love reading cozy mysteries and this is a new series for me!! I’d love to win this book!!
So glad you entered the contest, Linda. And can I say I really like your first name.
Writers Police Academy told me about this opportunity!
I’m looking forward to reading your work.
I LOVE humor and twisty characters and your title is very sharp (see what I did there?).
Hey, Jean. I’m a Writers’ Police Academy veteran and staff volunteer. If you win the ARC, you’ll see I’ve dedicated it to my WPA “family.”
Linda is a new author to me. Would really like to read “Picked Off”.
Thanks, Dianne. Authors love new readers.
Love the cover, loved the first one in this series and would love a chance to win this one. I went to pre-order and I could not find it. Do you know when it will be available?
Thanks, Kay, I think Henery Press will make it available for pre-order about a month before the official release date which is June 5. So happy you liked BONES TO PICK.
I liked the first book in this series, and am looking forward to reading this second one now. I’ll bet it will be just as much fun.
Thanks Linda!
I has just as much fun writing this one as I did BONES TO PICK. So I hope you have as much fun reading it.
This sounds like a real cute clever series that I think I’d like to read

Sounds like a good new to me author. So cute cover and synopsis is intriguing. I definitely want to read this book.
