Thanks so much for having me on today to reveal the cover for the fourth Headlines in High Heels Mystery, Dru! DEVIL IN THE DEADLINE was such fun to write: the idea actually came from the body dump location, which my husband found one day on a run along the James River. We went back to scout it out, and the place was so creepy, I knew I had to have a victim turn up there.
Here’s a peek at the jacket copy:
When the Richmond police offer an exclusive in exchange for help with a case, nothing—not even a costume party—stops crime reporter Nichelle Clarke from making Manolo tracks to the crime scene. The hunt leads her to a televangelist’s compound in the Virginia countryside where the Reverend may be more interested in fat stacks of cash than he is saving wayward souls.
With two sexy guys tangled up in Nichelle’s story—and in her heart—work and love are on a crash course for disaster. Pressure pours in from every corner, including a faceless new competitor that means the deadline is always five minutes ago. As secrets threaten and the truth becomes her lifeline, Nichelle must unmask the killer and nail down the story before she’s snared in the carefully-constructed web.
DEVIL IN THE DEADLINE will be on sale everywhere January 6, 2015.

About the author
LynDee Walker’s award-winning journalistic work has appeared in newspapers and magazines across the nation.
Her debut novel, Front Page Fatality, is an amazon and Barnes & Noble #1 bestseller, and was nominated for the Agatha Award for Best First Novel. DEVIL IN THE DEADLINE is the fourth in LynDee’s “Headlines in High Heels” mystery series. The fifth arrives October 2015.

looks good.
Thank you!
Thank you! 🙂
Love the heels that I can never wear. 🙂 The book sounds good too.
Thanks for stopping by! I can only wear shoes like that in “walk to the car/walk to the table/walk back to the car” situations. 😉
Love the stilettos and the color green. Thank you for the chance to win 🙂
So glad you like it! Good luck in the contest!

The graphics are nicely striking.
I can’t help but look at those shoes, however, and think what an evil torture they are!
I agree, Libby, but they’re so pretty. I love to look at them. Wearing them is more difficult.
I love the new cover! Green killer heels with black bows! Great way to keep your place in the book! 🙂

Ooooooooo! Please let me win. This sounds fascinating.
Thank you, Amy, and good luck!
Those were the days – when I could wear high heels like those.
Time moves on. Sounds like a great read.
thanks.
Haha, Marylou, I never really had those days. I think that’s why I love to look at them and write about them. 🙂
Yay!!! Another Nichelle book. Can’t wait to read it. Love the cover!!!
Thanks, Debbie! I’m so glad you like Nichelle and the gang. 🙂
A newspaper front page somewhere in the design would be my suggestion to go with the title. Other than that, it’s eye-catching.
Thanks, Judy!
can’t wait!!!!!!!
Thank you! I hope you enjoy it!
another series on my Wish List!!!
thank you for the giveaway!!
I hope you enjoy the books! Good luck in the contest!
Oh, this book sounds go good! I love the cover. I want those shoes, but I know I would fall on my face if I tried to wear them. Still, they are delicious!
Me, too, sister. But I love to look at them. I have a friend who can RUN in heels like these. That’s why Nichelle can do it. If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I’d swear it defied the laws of physics.
Love the shoes, and can’t wait for more Nichelle.
Thanks so much, Mary! Good luck!
Love this series and the cover. I also like hearing that many plot twists and turns are figured out while walking off enchiladas!! Thanks for the chance to win.
Thanks, Mary! Something about walking clears my head when I get stuck on a story point. Especially this time of year. I love working on a new story in the fall.
Always love the shoes and wish I could still wear them.
Thank you, Barbara! Me, too. 😉
thanks for hosting the giveaway hope to win
Good luck! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
Love the cover—even if there’s no way I could ever wear shoes like that.

Thank you so much, Sue! 🙂
I love the plot for Nichelle’s fourth adventure. And, of course, I love the cover. I really like the placement of the shoes; how they are pointing towards each other instead of being beside each other. The emerald green color of the shoes really pops off the page. I can’t wait to read “Devil.”
Thank you, Priscilla! I had such fun with this one—I hope y’all enjoy it as much as I have. And I agree. The shoes being “kicked off” around the journal is brilliant. Though it took my artist BFF to point that out to my untrained eye. 😉
I love the color and the shoes of the new book cover! Very CooL cover!
I’m looking forward to reading it. I curious how creepy your body drop location is. 😛
Thank you, Carol! Stay tuned for more info about that around the launch: I have pictures. It’s pretty creepy, all right. 😉
Those shoes! Where do I get shoes like that? 🙂
I love to window shop at Saks. 🙂 My hubby usually buys me the “cover shoes” as a launch gift, but he might even have trouble finding these—I think the artists at Henery Press have outdone themselves!
I love the green!
I see that I am not alone with wanting to receive LynDee’s newest book. I have loved all of her others and will be looking forward to this one as well. If I win it, it will be read a lot sooner than if it goes on my wish list but I will eventually get it ordered; there are just so many great books to buy and read and this series is one of the best. I used to write for a newspaper so perhaps that is my connection to LynDee’s writing and my enjoyment of it.
Thank you for putting me on the long list to enter.
Sincerely,
Cynthia
PS I don’t think that I could ever have walked with heels this high!!!!!
Adorable cover! I’ve not explored this series yet. Would love a chance to read it.
The cover is great and I’ve got January 6th on my calendar as the release date so I can be sure to get the book right away (especially considering the exchange with which you ended the last book)!
Thanks LynDee for interacting with my readers.
