Genre: Traditional mystery

What we locals call “Georgiawood” continues in my hometown and Maizie Albright’s. Black Pine is fictional, but it reflects the growing TV and film industry here in Georgia. Throw a stone at a show, and it’s likely filmed around here: Stranger Things, Ozark, the Marvel movies. An HBO show called Brooklyn, for goodness sakes. Many are filmed within a crow’s fly of my house including The Walking Dead.

Exciting stuff for us (except for the traffic, higher prices, and lack of available housing). But poor Maizie. She left Hollywood — willingly and forcibly — only to find it had followed her home. In book one, 15 Minutes, Maizie struggles to leave her celebrity past behind for an exciting new career as a private investigator. She’d played one on TV but had enough sense to know she needed training. Lucky for Maizie, there was a PI in town: Wyatt Nash of Nash Security Solutions. Unfortunately, he had no interest in training an ex-celebrity, particularly when she lost his client’s wife on the first day. But Maizie’s enthusiasm and determined attitude grew on him.

Maybe not enough for Maizie. But falling in love with your boss is a complicated endeavor.

In book two, 16 Millimeters, Hollywood deals Nash Security Solutions a score and a blow when Maizie’s hired to babysit a hot mess starlet. Maizie might be bringing in new business for Nash Security Solutions, but her bad luck in finding dead bodies means more financial woes and a lot of stress. Professionally and personally.

Welcome to book three, NC-17, named for the film rating “no children admitted under seventeen.” Maizie’s past has caught up with her. She’s not meeting all the probationary requirements that led her back to Georgia. And the ex-fiancé who got her in trouble with the law in the first place is now managing an exclusive Black Pine healing resort popular with celebrities, the Center. Where her new therapist resides. And her new community service work is assigned. And her ex-manager-and-still-mother decides to retreat.

Along with these issues, Maizie’s juggling her ex-manager-and-still-mother’s wedding plans to her other ex-fiancé, Giulio. Still trying to get her ex-manager-and-still-mother to stop Tiger Mom-ing Maizie’s ex-career. Still shoring up the still failing Nash Security Solutions business. Still trying to learn the ropes of private investigations.

And helping a group of teens solve the disappearance (and possible murder) of their friend. The producer of their YouTube vlog, Big Foot Trackers. Who they believe was dealt foul play somewhere at the Center.

Then there’s Nash. That (sort-of) unrequited flame still burning within Maizie’s heart. But when he’s critically injured. . .

Well, I’m not going to give the whole story away! You can read the blurb below. 🙂

Thanks for stopping in! Tell me what you think about Big Foot (or the cover) to win a e-copy of Maizie’s latest novella A View To a Chill. The giveaway ends May 9, 2018. Good luck everyone!

Book Synopsis
The kids aren’t all right. And apparently, neither is Maizie Albright.

“Larissa writes a delightful book. Suspense, romance, and some funny situations. Maizie’s a teen star grown up to new possibilities” — Sharon Salituro, Fresh Fiction

#StillDetectiveing

As an ex-star of a hit teen detective show, Maizie Albright gets the youth demographic. Or so she thought. Now that she’s adulting, today’s kids make Maizie feel out of date. At least the youth she meets while doing (required) community service at Black Pine’s exclusive healing resort, the Center. When these teens aren’t vlogging their attempts to track down Big Foot, they’re trying to prove the Center is a secret underground lab set on evil. Starting with the murder of their not-so-young commander. A murder the police find as likely as Big Foot.

Maizie has her own suspicions about the new celebrity retreat. Particularly when she learns her ex-fiancé has been hired to run the Center. Kind of an issue when she thought Oliver was in prison. Kind of an issue when Nash, the man of her dreams, is out of commission.

Wait, not man of her dreams. Boss of her fantasies. Um. . . A desirable mentor for her career aspirations? Professionally speaking, of course.

While Maizie’s helping adolescent Youtubers detect a murder and coverup, she’s wrangling her mother’s wedding, assuaging an overzealous probation officer, and struggling to keep Nash Security Solutions solvent. Conspiracy theories collide with real-life catastrophes beginning with murder and possibly ending with Maizie’s life.
