It has been my honor to reveal covers for most of Larissa’s upcoming books and I am so excited with the look of this new cover for the next book in the “Maizie Albright” mystery series from Past Perfect Press, coming April 2020.
From Larissa: Thanks so much for joining me for my cover reveal! And thanks so much to Dru Ann for hosting me once again. I’m so excited to share the new look for Maizie Albright Star De-tective series and for her new novel, 18 Caliber. Let me know what you think!
If you’re not familiar with Maizie Albright, she’s the ex-star of a hit teen detective show that spiraled from A-list to D-list from her teens to adulthood. After a judge ordered her to leave Hollywood and get a new job before she’d truly implode, Maizie’s back in her hometown in Georgia and apprenticing Wyatt Nash, a private investigator, to follow her dream of becoming a real-life detective.
18 Caliber is her sixth mystery in the Wall Street Journal bestselling series. Maizie finds herself mixed up with international stars, spies, and her ex-manager/still-mother Vicki Albright’s dark past. I hope you enjoy this excerpt where Maizie and Nash are called to an emergency at a party at Vicki’s mansion for an international movie in pre-production in Black Pine.
To win a signed copy of A View To A Chill, the fourth Maizie Albright book, tell me your favorite private investigator team on TV. I think mine is still my favorite from high school, Laura Holt and Remington Steele, although Maddie Hayes and David Addi-son from Moonlighting ran a close second. The giveaway will end March 10, 2020 and is limited to U.S. residents.
Book Synopsis
#WannabeDetectiving While ex-celebrity Maizie Albright’s dreams of becoming a for-real private investigator have not exactly been dashed, they have been slightly thwarted. Her ex-manager and still-mother, Vicki Albright, has taken the helm of Nash Security Services while rebuilding her entertainment management company. Sometimes with the same clients. Like Chinese action star, Lili Liang, who’s making the film Unlucky 18 in Georgia.
Thus far, Lili’s living up to her movie title. Her kung fu coach is missing. Her boyfriend’s disappeared. And her director, who gambled on her with the part, might be gambling with her life.
Maizie’s luck is also running out. Maizie and Nash find themselves struggling to balance a new partnership and new relationship between missing persons’ cases, wild goose chases, and tracking a bullet into dangerous places. Sometimes it’s enough to make a girl NOT want to put a ring on it. When it comes to facing an 18-caliber killer, what will Maizie put up as the target? Her heart or her life?

Following Misty in the Escalade, we wound through the streets of downtown Black Pine and up the town’s namesake mountain. Vicki’s stone monstrosity was somewhat secluded, built on a ridge chosen for the view of Black Pine Lake. Probably also for her preference for being above people. Once the summer home of a late nineteenth-century peanut baron, the mansion had been remodeled several times since—although the home still retained its original marbled oak trim. And marbled marble.
Misty took a split to follow the path to the lower parking garage. Nash kept to the front circular drive and parked his Silverado before the granite walkway to the house. After shooing off the valet, he shoved his keys into his pocket and opened my door. I bounded out and we hoofed it to the front door where, surprisingly, Vicki answered.
In an ankle-length, black and white silk dress with an attached asymmetrical cape, she was dressed more for a red carpet run than an at-home gathering. Her makeup was flawless and professional. Her blonde, shoulder-length hair pulled back into an elaborate twist.
“Valentino?” I said. “I thought you were serving burgers.”
She nodded. “Thank you for coming so quickly. Most of my guests have left, so don’t worry about how you look, Maizie. I’m sure they’ll understand.”
“I wasn’t—” I wasn’t until now.
We stepped through the massive wooden door and onto the parquet fitted to look like a giant peanut vine. And halted. An eight-foot-wide columnar aquarium stretched from the floor to the second-story balcony overlooking the foyer.
“This is. . .new.” My gaze followed a school of clownfish flitting from a coral sculpture to a life-size treasure chest that opened and shut with a burst of bubbles. Exposing what looked like a booty of gold coins and pearls.

Thank you so much for hosting me & Maizie Albright once again, Dru! It’s such a treat and truly an honor to announce this here first!
Good luck to everyone in the giveaway!
thank you.
Sounds like another fun read. I guess my favorite detective team would be Cagney and Lacey.
Thanks Sharon! I loved Cagney and Lacey, too. Really brings me back!
I liked them too!
I also loved Pierce Brosnan as Remington Steel alongside Stephanie Zimbalist even though their show delayed his appearance as 007. I also liked Kate Beckett and Rick Castle. I even bought the three books. I only wish that Nathan and Stana could have gotten along.
Both of these couples were cute together.
I have loved all the books that you have written, and can’t wait to read this upcoming book.
Thanks so much, Anna!
I liked “Psych,” with Shawn Spencer and Burton Guster. It could be funny but also serious.
Thanks for a chance to win.
So many to choose from, but recent afavorite was Castle…
Thank you for the giveaway..
You’re welcome! Castle is wonderful!
I love this series! Congrats, Larissa!
Thanks Diane!
Hey Diane, I don’t know if you remember this, but you gave the title for 18 CALIBER!
Fun challenge to create a story around the title, too. 🙂
Thanks again!
Great cover and series! I love Maizie ~ Maddie and David from Moonlighting are my favorites as well.
I love them, too! I had them in mind when I started the series, but Maizie and Nash quickly morphed into their own thing. Thanks for stopping in!
So hard to pick a favorite, but Magnum and Higgins, T.C. and Rick (Magnum P.I.) come to mind first. Great cover!
They were fun! I haven’t seen Magnum PI in a long time, but I need to look for it again. Thanks for stopping in!
Love this series! Poor Wyatt. There are so many detective combos out there to love. I’m going to say Adrian Monk and Sharona.
Thanks so much, Pat! I love Monk, too! Such a great character!
I will always love Magnum PI and his buddies from the original series.
They are great! So funny.
I liked them too!
I like the excerpt. And I’d have to go with Cagney and Lacey for my favorite detective team, also.
I was such a Cagney and Lacey fan! Loved their accents, too! (I’m down south. lol)
Thanks for stopping in!
I don’t know that I have a favorite private investigator duo. I do love Beckett & Castle from the TV show Castle.
That’s a great pair, I think. Thanks for stopping by, Jana!
Love the cover! My fave detectives growing up were Cagney & Lacey. Loved them!
Thanks Jennifer! We’re taking the covers in a little different direction and have begun updating the old covers, too.

Great cover-Can’t wait for the release. My fav was Remington Steele
Thank you, Louisa! Mine too!
Congratulations on the new book! (I don’t understand how you have time to write a book. You are so busy with those two beautiful daughters. Have y’all picked out any colleges yet?) Love the new cover! It really fits the series. I guess my favorite duo would be Laura Holt and Remington Steel. I always loved her talking in the intro.
I don’t understand either–lol! Probably why I drink so much coffee. 😉
We haven’t picked out a college yet, still shopping. We’re visiting GCSU in Milledgeville in April and hope to visit UGA in the summer. Next up, the ACT & SAT.
I don’t remember applying for colleges as this much work, but then again, when I was in high school, I probably wasn’t paying attention to my parents’ scheduling either. lol
Thanks so much for your kind words about the cover! I thought so, too, but trying anything new is a little scary.
I was a huge Remington Steele fan, too. I wanted to be Laura Holt when I grew up!
Thanks for stopping, Debi!
Shawn and Gus from Psych would be my all time favorite followed by Columbo but he didn’t have a sidekick.
Psych is so much fun! I’ve only seen a few episodes but really enjoyed them!
When I was in Japan, Columbo was still very popular. I could catch him every day!
Thanks for stopping by, Jan!
Shawn and Gus from Psych would be my all time favorite. Followed by Columbo who didn’t have a sidekick.
Your cover artist/designer did an excellent job. The cover is eye-catching–love it.
I would have to say Holt and Steele. Loved that show. And let’s be honest–Remington Steele was very easy on the eyes. LOL! Looking forward to reading Maizie’s newest adventure. Thanks for the chance to win a signed copy of A View To A Chill.
Very easy on the eyes — I’d say! But I think it’s the accent, too…lol
Thanks so much Linda! So glad you liked the cover and good luck in the giveaway!
New series to me. Sounds like a series I should be reading. Columbo is one of my favorite sleuths.

My girls and I watched Columbo when we were living in Japan. Still a hit there!
Man so Many choices. I think Magnum and Higgins. Remington Steele is next. Thanks. Great cover. Cannot wait to read.
Thanks so much, Risa! I also liked the brothers who were detectives. One was named, AJ, I think, and one lived on a boat. But I can’t remember the name of the show.
I think you’re referring to the TV show Simon & Simon. I liked it too.
Yes!
Larissa absolutely love the cover. I can’t wait to read it. I loved Moonlighting with Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd and Hart to Hart with Stephanie Powers and Robert Wagner.
Thanks so much, Karina! Love Hart to Hart, too! They were the ultimate married couple to me, back in the day!
It’s a little hard to say, a lot of choices. I think Simon & Simon. They were two brothers who were detectives. Also Remington Steele and Charlie’s Angels (the original version). It sounds like a wonderful book.
I was trying to remember the name of that show earlier. Loved that show!

I love Monk! He’s so cute and quirky. They’re a good team for each other!
I liked McMillan and Wife–it’s an oldie but a goodie–and the characters were fun and humerous
I haven’t seen that one. I need to look for it. Thanks Rochelle!
Gosh, I love all of your picks. I guess I’ll pick Castle and Beckett cuz they came to mind first.
That’s a good one too! Thanks for stopping in!
Psych is my favorite now. When I was a kid , it was Scooby doo and Clue Club, then Josie and the Pussycats ,then Charlies Angels,Moonlighting, and Remington Steele.
I loved Josie and the Pussycats, and of course, Charlie’s Angels. I didn’t see Clue Club. Maybe it wasn’t in my area.
Love the cover. I liked HART TO HART with Robert Wagner and Stephanie Power.
