It has been my honor to reveal covers for most of Larissa’s upcoming books and I am so excited with the look of this new cover for the next book in the “Maizie Albright” mystery series from Past Perfect Press, coming April 2020.

From Larissa: Thanks so much for joining me for my cover reveal! And thanks so much to Dru Ann for hosting me once again. I’m so excited to share the new look for Maizie Albright Star De-tective series and for her new novel, 18 Caliber. Let me know what you think!

If you’re not familiar with Maizie Albright, she’s the ex-star of a hit teen detective show that spiraled from A-list to D-list from her teens to adulthood. After a judge ordered her to leave Hollywood and get a new job before she’d truly implode, Maizie’s back in her hometown in Georgia and apprenticing Wyatt Nash, a private investigator, to follow her dream of becoming a real-life detective.

18 Caliber is her sixth mystery in the Wall Street Journal bestselling series. Maizie finds herself mixed up with international stars, spies, and her ex-manager/still-mother Vicki Albright’s dark past. I hope you enjoy this excerpt where Maizie and Nash are called to an emergency at a party at Vicki’s mansion for an international movie in pre-production in Black Pine.

To win a signed copy of A View To A Chill, the fourth Maizie Albright book, tell me your favorite private investigator team on TV. I think mine is still my favorite from high school, Laura Holt and Remington Steele, although Maddie Hayes and David Addi-son from Moonlighting ran a close second. The giveaway will end March 10, 2020 and is limited to U.S. residents.

Book Synopsis
#WannabeDetectiving While ex-celebrity Maizie Albright’s dreams of becoming a for-real private investigator have not exactly been dashed, they have been slightly thwarted. Her ex-manager and still-mother, Vicki Albright, has taken the helm of Nash Security Services while rebuilding her entertainment management company. Sometimes with the same clients. Like Chinese action star, Lili Liang, who’s making the film Unlucky 18 in Georgia.

Thus far, Lili’s living up to her movie title. Her kung fu coach is missing. Her boyfriend’s disappeared. And her director, who gambled on her with the part, might be gambling with her life.

Maizie’s luck is also running out. Maizie and Nash find themselves struggling to balance a new partnership and new relationship between missing persons’ cases, wild goose chases, and tracking a bullet into dangerous places. Sometimes it’s enough to make a girl NOT want to put a ring on it. When it comes to facing an 18-caliber killer, what will Maizie put up as the target? Her heart or her life?

Books in the Maizie Albright Star Detective series: 15 Minutes, 16 Millimeters, NC-17, A View To A Chill, 17.5 Cartridges In A Pear Tree, and 18 Caliber.

Following Misty in the Escalade, we wound through the streets of downtown Black Pine and up the town’s namesake mountain. Vicki’s stone monstrosity was somewhat secluded, built on a ridge chosen for the view of Black Pine Lake. Probably also for her preference for being above people. Once the summer home of a late nineteenth-century peanut baron, the mansion had been remodeled several times since—although the home still retained its original marbled oak trim. And marbled marble.

Misty took a split to follow the path to the lower parking garage. Nash kept to the front circular drive and parked his Silverado before the granite walkway to the house. After shooing off the valet, he shoved his keys into his pocket and opened my door. I bounded out and we hoofed it to the front door where, surprisingly, Vicki answered.

In an ankle-length, black and white silk dress with an attached asymmetrical cape, she was dressed more for a red carpet run than an at-home gathering. Her makeup was flawless and professional. Her blonde, shoulder-length hair pulled back into an elaborate twist.

“Valentino?” I said. “I thought you were serving burgers.”

She nodded. “Thank you for coming so quickly. Most of my guests have left, so don’t worry about how you look, Maizie. I’m sure they’ll understand.”

“I wasn’t—” I wasn’t until now.

We stepped through the massive wooden door and onto the parquet fitted to look like a giant peanut vine. And halted. An eight-foot-wide columnar aquarium stretched from the floor to the second-story balcony overlooking the foyer.

“This is. . .new.” My gaze followed a school of clownfish flitting from a coral sculpture to a life-size treasure chest that opened and shut with a burst of bubbles. Exposing what looked like a booty of gold coins and pearls.
