Book Synopsis
Staging the musical Oklahoma! in the historic Rose Creek amphitheater seems like a brilliant move until a feral cat leads Makenzie to a body. The tragedy threatens to halt the Hollywood production and derails Callie’s plan to evict her husband’s worthless cousin, who has no memory of his night at a cowboy bar, partying with the actors. Callie can’t get rid of him until she proves his innocence. Or guilt. Makenzie suspects half the county of murder. Shanice attempts to eliminate suspects using a mathematical formula, while lawyer Drew wonders if her new client, an understudy with a strong motivation to kill, is telling her the truth. The Rose Creek Reads Book Club tackles a new mystery with too many suspects and not enough clues.
About the author
Catherine Dilts prefers writing cozy mysteries and short stories surrounded by flowers on her sunny deck, but any day – and anywhere – spent writing is a good day. Catherine has lived in Colorado for decades now, but spent her formative years in Oklahoma. The Body in the Cornfield is the second entry in the Rose Creek Mystery series set in the Ozark foothills in northeastern Oklahoma. Her short stories regularly appear in Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine.
What a fun cover! With a body in the cornfield and a mama cat and kittens how can a mystery lover go wrong?
In the novel, the relationship between cats and mysteries is addressed:
“Why is a cat always involved?” Shanice asked.
“Cats and mysteries go together,” Emily said matter-of-factly.
Sue, I agree, I love cozy mysteries with cat characters!
Cute cover! I like the logo design under the series title.
The cover artist, Deirdre Wait, is amazing.
Eye catching cover!
The mystery sounds very involved.
Deirdre Wait is the cover artist. All her covers do a great job capturing the essence of the novel.
