Okay, I’ll tell you about my typical day, but don’t say I didn’t tell you so. You might be exhausted after reading about it.

You don’t know my name, do you? Oh wait, it’s in the title, right? Anyway, I’m Darla Taylor. My author tells me that she pulled that name out of the air, then realized it’s the name of a real person. A wonderful woman who follows her on social media. I think that’s special! An example of the subconscious mind coming to the rescue of the writer.

Although, I admit, she did pretty well, using that subconscious stuff and all. Or whatever she does. The real Darla Taylor is fine with her naming me that, for the record.

I live and work in the town of Charity, Ohio. You won’t find it on your map, but I know it’s there. I live there!

I’m a hospital nurse and right now I’m working in the Emergency Department. I’m moved around, but I’m there for now and I like that assignment. The only typical part of the day is the time I get to work. My shift is usually twelve hours long at the hospital.

Then there’s Mom. I know, she has home health aides, but I feel I have to look in on her often. And look after her sometimes, too. I’m beginning to discover and that she has a past I didn’t know anything about. That’s concerning.

These hours mean that I don’t have tons of time for my awesome Moose. He’s my great big lover, a chocolate lab, and the best dog anyone ever had. The other thing I like to make time for is archery. I have a set up in my own backyard and I can usually fit that in on my days off.

The only good thing about the long shift work is that I get three days off in a row.

Back to that writer. After I broke up with Bobby Abbott, a co-worker (which made that doubly awkward), I kind of quit having normal days. Very bad things started happening. My meds were messed with, my tire slashed, scary hang-up phone calls. Maybe I’m not so thrilled with that subconscious. I hope my writer can get me out of all this.

Four-Time Agatha Award Nominee Kaye George brings a new edge-of-your-seat suspense!

Someone is stalking Darla.

She has a lot on her plate already. Dealing with a breakup. Her best friend shutting Darla out of her life. A handicapped mother. Her career as a hospital nurse. She doesn’t need slashed tires, threatening notes, or, least of all, a brick through her window.

She suspects her tormentor could either be her ex or her own father, who attacked and crippled her mother years ago. But she’s just not sure, and there’s no one but her dog to turn to.

Soon, she’s forced to rely on her own wits to protect her and her mother as the frightening threats become more and more frequent.

And are progressively more dangerous.
