Sometimes the best way to know a person is by asking questions, where you can learn more about what makes them tick. Let’s see who we have today.

What is your name?
– – Davis Way Cole

How old are you?
– – I’m thirtysomething.

What is your profession?
– – After seven years as a police officer in my hometown of Pine Apple, Alabama, I joined an elite security team at the Bellissimo Resort and Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Do you have a significant other?
– – I’m so happily married to the kindest, smartest, most patient man in the world.

What is his name?
– – Bradley. Bradley Cole.

What is his profession?
– – Bradley’s a gaming-attorney-turned-casino-president.

Any children?
– – We have toddler twin daughters, Bexley and Quinn.

Do you have any sibling(s)?
– – A younger sister, Meredith.

Cats, dogs or other pets?
– – Oh, boy. This is a timely and loaded question. I have a cat (I had a cat), Anderson Cooper, but she lives with my parents in Pine Apple. I feel certain I’m going to be a dog owner soon.

What town do you live in?
– – I live on the beach in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Do you rent or own?
– – Bradley and I live on the 29th floor of the Bellissimo Resort and Casino.

House or building complex?
– – Big building. Big. Casino-resort-hotel big.

– – Fantasy Erb. I love her to pieces.

Amateur sleuth or professional?
– – I’m a pro.

Whom do you work with when sleuthing?

Favorite meal?
– – Strawberry Pop-Tarts

Favorite dessert?
– – Strawberry Pop-Tarts

Favorite hobby?
– – I LOVE to play slot machines in the casino. My favorite is Pinball.

Favorite vacation spot?
– – I live in a vacation spot, so that’s a hard one. I can tell you this—it’s not Pine Apple, Alabama.

Favorite color?
– – Almost red, which is the color of my hair. I’ve had to learn to love it.

Favorite author?
– – These days, it’s Dr. Seuss.

Favorite sports team?
– – I’d like to use a Lifeline.

Movies or Broadway?
– – Movies. Netflix movies. Because pajamas.

Are you a morning or a night person?
– – Honestly, since my girls were born, I’m a round-the-clock person.

In a few sentences, what is a typical day in your life like?
– – Monday through Thursday, I work in my home office from ten until two, mostly tracking down casino cheats the cyber way. A typical day outside of my scheduled working hours would include chasing my girlies around, spending time with my husband, and praying a casino security notification or a call from Bianca Sanders (the casino owner’s wife, who I am a celebrity double for) doesn’t flash across my phone. When either of those things happen, watch out.

You can read about Davis in Double Dog Dare, the seventh book in the “Davis Way Crime Caper” mystery series. The first book in the series is Double Whammy.

Problem #1: Bootsy Howard
Davis Way Cole lives a (relatively) quiet, (somewhat) simple, and (completely) witch-free life with her husband and twin daughters on the 29th floor of the Bellissimo Resort and Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. Until Bootsy Howard shows up demanding a million dollars.

Problem #2: Princess Smucker
What was marketing thinking when they booked the Southern Canine Association’s annual dog show at the Bellissimo? And what was Davis thinking when she agreed to let a dog stay with her? For a week? In her home? The home where she lives a (fairly) quiet, (reasonably) simple, and (totally) manicotti-free life?

Problem #3: Leverette Urleen, MD
The last thing Davis needs is an unsolicited house call from Pine Apple, Alabama’s latest excuse for a doctor. But since he’s there, considering she has a dead body on ice, she might as well have him determine the cause of death. Which he doesn’t. Nor is he any help finding the body when Davis loses it.

On top of all that, he won’t leave, further disrupting Davis’s (more or less) quiet, (to a certain degree) simple, and (utterly) seersucker-free life. A life that’s about to go to the dogs. Unless Davis can learn a few new tricks. Fast.

Guaranteed woofs, the best thing since the bone, take Double Dog Dare for a walk and you’re sure to unleash a treat.
