An Unhappy MediumHi, I’m Diana. You might have seen my website if you’ve been browsing for crystal balls, tarot cards, healing crystals, or books on Wicca and Magick.

I live in Crystal Haven, Michigan and own Moonward Magick, a one-stop shop for all things witch or Wiccan. My best friend is Clyde Fortune and I have to say that ever since she moved back to town, business has been booming. Unfortunately, I’m not so sure it’s for the right reasons. Crystal Haven was one of the safest towns in western Michigan. Then Clyde moved home and within a month she had stumbled on a murder. Of course, she insisted on trying to find the killer. And she refused to use any of her psychic insight to do it. I offered to cast a protection spell, and she finally agreed to the weakest one I knew. A lot of good that did.

Then last fall someone very close to me was killed. I was grateful that she helped find the murderer, but it did make me wonder if she brought some sort of bad vibes along with her. Is it just a coincidence that as soon as she moves back home, people suddenly end up dead? I’m not saying she is harming anyone, but the woman can’t even go on vacation without finding a body.

I’m starting to think that instead of protection spells for Clyde, I should cast one for the whole town. For instance, this weekend we’re having a Zombie Fun Run and it’s the Founder’s Day Weekend. That’s a lot of people flocking to town, and there is a definite gawker vibe from some of the visitors. It’s like Crystal Haven is no longer just a great place to have a psychic reading, but it also has that stigma of murder which attracts a whole different type of tourist. Plus, the new palm reader who rents space in my store has started scaring off the customers with her predictions. But the thing I’m most worried about is that Clyde’s sister, Grace, just announced a surprise visit. That woman hasn’t been in Crystal Haven in years. I can tell Clyde is worried and I have a very bad feeling about the whole thing. I have to dress up like a zombie this evening and chase runners through the woods. If it wasn’t for a good cause – and I hadn’t promised – I’d stay home under the covers until the whole thing was over. I’m going to consult my spellbooks – I think I’ll need some strong magick to keep everyone safe.
