It’s August in Savannah, Georgia—hardly the season for a traditional Southern wedding with hoopskirts and crinolines. One could die from the heat—or from a cake knife in the back…
Reagan Summerside should be devoting all her energy to her consignment shop the Prissy Fox. But when her dear friend Chantilly Parker is arrested for murder, Reagan vows to clear her name. The victim is Simon Ambrose, who’s found lying in his own wedding cake with a knife in his back.
Chantilly has motive (Simon broke her heart to marry wealthy Waynetta Waverly) and opportunity (crashing the wedding in her UPS delivery truck). And she has cake on her face, and the stolen bridesmaid dress the killer wore is in her truck. But Chantilly would never wear crinoline to kill a man!
With the help of her flamboyant auntie, KiKi, and vexing but attractive attorney Walker Boone, Reagan is determined to save her friend—before she’s forced to turn in her brown uniform for an orange jumpsuit…

Does the beautiful cat come with one of the bags? 🙂
Dr Watson is such a ham…I get out the camera and he has to be in the pic. I have another cat, Spooky, who is shy and hides. Love the kitties. There’s a dog in the series, Bruce Wills, a rescue dog.
Love the totes! I have the book on my TBR shelf. (but could always find someone to give an extra copy to!)
Thanks ton, Carol, for picking up Killer. You are always so supportive. Hope you enjoy the read and if you don’t laugh at least once I’ll buy back the book. 🙂
The house on the cover looks real pretty! Thanks for all the new book heads up Dru
Hi, Maureen. The book takes place in the Victorian district of Savannah and so many of these houses look like this. Reagan’s rehabbing her house and opens the Prissy Fox consignment shop to help make ends meet. Old houses are such a money pit!
“Would never wear crinoline to kill a man” I have to read this book!!! Dee
Hi, Deanna. The gal accused of the crime feels just like you do. She hates crinolines…too scratchy! Now to find the person who really did kill the groom.
Sounds like an interesting story. Marydee
Hi, Marydee. Savannah is such a great place for a book esp a murder. Killer is like a mini vacation there. LOL
Looks like another winner! Thanks for the chance to win both the book and the tote.
Hi, Everyone and thanks for having me here Dru Ann to chat about Killer. I love Savannah and the South…the food, the big old homes, the flowers how everyone talks and Savannah is so haunted it’s the perfect backdrop for murder. Nothing more fun than a no-good groom dead in his own wedding cake.
This series is new to me, but anything set in Savannah, Georgia automatically goes on my reading list. I can’t wait to start reading this series. Thanks for the opportunity to win a copy of this book!
Sounds great! 😃
Hi, Jan. I love Savannah, been there so many times I know it better than Cincinnati where I live. The squares are so beautiful esp in the spring. Savannah’s springs are heaven on earth. And the restaurants! Zunzies makes the best sandwiches ever and Leopold’s Ice Cream is to die for. We need a road trip!
Hi, Dina. Great meeting you here.
would love this!
Hi, Sarah. If you like the South and cozies you’d have a good time with Killer. I sure had fun writing it. Wait till you meet Auntie KiKi and of course there’s Walker Boone to swoon over. 🙂
I would love to win this book. This is a fun series to read. I love the names of the cats, we are a cat family as well. Three inside (Reese, Tiny and Blue) and two outside (Skip and Tiger)
Hi, griperang. Love the kitties! You have a lovely family there. They do the craziest things. I’m just starting another series set in Mackinac Island the there are three kitties all named after Mark Twain’s cats.
Thanks for the giveaway opportunity. Since I was already a fan of Iced Chiffon, I am sure I will like this one too.
Thanks, Linda, for the kind words about Iced Chiffon. Killer is Chantilly’s story where she’s accused of killing her ex who happens to be marrying another woman…the rat! Have a lovely Saturday.
I am a fan of Duffy Brown. Love her books.
Hi, Pam!! Thanks so much. You sure made my day. Hugs
This is one I haven’t read yet. Thank you for the opportunity to win it. I love my cozies!
Hi, bubston
Cozies are the best…love that everything works out in the end and they don’t kill off the hero. Hate when that happens.
I always enjoy books about the South and would love to read this one! Thank you!
Hi, Carol. I love the South too, the manners and food and the springtime and the food…did I mention the food! Savannah is loaded with great restaurants and not of the chain variety but the indy guys who such a great job.
Morning, Duffy, I loved this book. it is full of surprises. Thank you for the adventure.
Hi, Sharon! Thank You. I’m thrilled you enjoyed Killer. Hope you had a laugh or two. Have a lovely weekend. Hugs, Duffy
I love Savannah and I love cozies so this is a natural fit! Thanks for the opportunity.
Hi, Barbara. Savannah is such a neat city. You can park your car and walk your way across it…or eat your way across it as I’m always tempted to do.
I would love to read this book! Savannah is a favorite of mine and your book sounds like so much fun!
Thanks, Susan. Savannah is a fun city to set a mystery. It’s so old and and has lot of character and stories of its own.
I love the fact that you wanted to take Sherlock Holmes to the prom, that made me laugh !
Hi, Kathy. It’s true! All the boys really paled in comparison to Sherlock. I wanted someone witty and smart and English. No guy at my school came close. LOL
AMAZING!!! That is YOU, Duffy!!! I absolutely loved Iced Chiffon and the Southern setting is such a lure to me. Having lived in New England all of my life, I am intrigued by the wonderful homes that you have and describe and the life in general is soooo vastly different than the North. So, it was a bit of a “vacation” for me to read a story about Savannah and I am so anxious to get Killer in Crinolines to hear more about Reagan and Kiki and find out how they will get Chantilly cleared of murder charges. That said, I would love, love, love to be the recipient of the “Killer” and the tote and will keep my fingers crossed for that to happen.
As to loving cats, I cannot remember a time when I have not had one or more (many more at times) and most of them were totally indoor cats. A number of our cats lived to be between 20 and 27 years old, and in wonderful health all that time. Our last three have gone to “kitty heaven” and we miss them so much. Now when I hear an unexplained noise in the house I can’t reassure myself that the “the cat did it”!!!! 🙂
Duffy, as I said, you are amazing, from having a great setting, believable and fun characters and a truly interesting and amusing story and I can’t tell you how much I have enjoyed your first book and hopefully your second book very soon. I love to read and want to be entertained (and laughing) and you do that for sure. Keep up the GREAT writing, Duffy. Thank you for branching out to the cozies; it is very appreciated by your readers/fans!!!
Have a lovely weekend Duffy and thank you, Dru, for having Duffy and Regan, et al on your daily blog. Look forward every day to your blog.
Hi, Cynthia. Wonderful hearing from you and thank you so very much for the lovely note. I’m over the moon thrilled you enjoyed Iced Chiffon and all the characters. My daughter used to call Savannah Slowvannah as nothing happened quickly there. She used to go to school there and I visited her and fell in love with the city.
I have another series coming out set on Mackinac Island, my Northern book. Mackinac is so lovely and with no cars it sure has a neat atmosphere.
Thanks for writing and thanks for be so enthusiastic about my books. I truly appreciate it.
Hugs, Duffy
Im currently reading “Iced Chiffon” and love it! Such a cute cozy mystery! Love the Southern background of the story.
I would love to win this book! =)
Thanks for the chance to win.
Hi, Melissa, Thanks for picking up Iced Chiffon and I’m thrilled you’re having fun with it. Southern stories have a flavor all their own. Thanks for writing. Hugs, Duffy
I had been patiently waiting for Killer in Crinolines to come out. The titles are fantastic. With a title like Iced Chiffon, I just knew I was going to enjoy the series. Iced Chiffon didn’t disappoint.
Thanks You! I’m so glad you enjoyed Iced Chiffon. Hope you had a little fun and a laugh or two. Thanks for writing and have a nice weekend. Hugs, Duffy
Sounds like a fabulous story, I can’t wait to read it.
Hi, Rita, Wonderful meeting you.
Hugs, Duffy
Would love to win Reagan’s next adventure! I enjoy all these characters and can’t wait to get back to their lives, Kiki and Walker make great companions for Reagan. Thanks!
So glad you enjoyed Kiki and Walker. They are fun to write and that Walker is a man of mystery makes it more exciting. Everyone loves the batboy. LOL
Loved the first book in the series, looking forward to the second. The setting in the Victorian section of Savannah is definitely a bonus for me, too, since Victorians are my favorite houses.
Hi Sherry. Victorian’s are my fav too but they sure cost the earth to keep up. They are a work of the heart.
Just bought the first book to add to my summer e-list and looking forward to reading both…Thanks Dru Ann for all the wonderful chances at give-aways.
Thanks for picking up Iced Chiffon, Ronda. I truly appreciate it and Dru All has such a wonderful blog. Thanks for including me.
Sounds like a fun read. I will look for the first one in this series.
Hope you enjoy Iced Chiffon, Barbara. Noting line murder in the South.
That should be like murder in the South. Sorry
Love cozies set in the South and who wouldn’t try to the murderer if your best friend has been accused ot doing it?
CarolNWong(at)aol(dot)com
I agree, Carolee. Chantilly is Reagan’s bff and the local UPS driver. Everyone knows Chantilly and that she got dumped by the guy who winds up dead… The rat had it coming.
I love Southern fiction ~ Iced Chiffon and Killer in Crinolines are on my TBR List and I am looking forward to reading this Southern Cozy Series! Thank you for the wonderful reviews and giveaway Dru Ann and Duffy. Oh, and I would have rather taken Sherlock Holmes to the dance any day~ One of my cats is named Sherlock! 😉 Happy Reading and Writing~ Cheers ~ Elizabeth MacGregor
Hi, Elizabeth. My license plate on my car is Sherlok 1 and Sherlok 2. Get lots of comments on that. Taking Sherlock to the prom would have been a lot more fun than the guy I went with, that’s for sure. LOL
I love Savannah settings–and I think I want to “meet” all those quirky characters, especially Aunt Kiki. Please enter me in your drawing.
suefarrell.farrell@gmail.com
Auntie KiKi is such a hoot and having her as the resident Savannah dance teacher for all those cotillions lets her in on all the local gossip. No wonder she and Reagan get into so much trouble.
Love those Southern stories. This looks like another to add to my growing list to be read.
Thanks, Mary. Southern stories do have a flavor all their own. All the more fun.
I love story about the south and this sounds like a winner
Thanks, Debbie. Can’t get more Southern than Savannah. It’s the Southern city that time forgot. Sooo lovely esp in the spring.
Sounds like a fun series and in a great location as well. Thanks for the review as well as the giveaway. I’ve got it on my book list!
Thanks Jane. Hope you enjoy Killer. It’s a fun easy summer read. No angst, just laughs the way summer should be.
I would love to live in the house on the cover of the book. Auntie KiKi — just her name makes you want to find out about her. Cozies are my favorite books. Thanks for the chance to win a book and tote. Great giveaway.
Hi, Darlene, When I saw the cover for Killer I wanted to live in that house too. And the dog…Bruce Willis…is the perfect pet and right there on the cover too.
Mysteries are my favorite. Plus I love the cover of the book. A perfect match for my bookshelf.
Thanks, Tricia. I’ve loved mysteries all my life and it’s so much fun to get to write them. The cover is really good. Berkley did a fantastic job.
I would love to win a copy of your book Duffy and great tote bag! I live in Georgia and love Savanna!
Hi, Jean. Lucky you. I love Ga and of course Savannah. It’s a city so preserved. ‘Course it wasn’t always that way. Thank heavens some people got together and saved it.
I carry my tote everywhere, but I don’t have the book yet. Please include me in the drawing as if I win, I can use the tote when the other wears out! 🙂 Lots of comments and compliments on the tote which allows me to share that there’s a book behind it. Thanks. judydee22002@yahoo.com
Hi, Judy. Thanks for spreading the world on Killer. I really appreciate it. So glad you enjoy the tote. Always nice for hauling.

Hi Debra
Have a good time book shopping. One of my favorite pastimes. Enjoy.

Hi, Wendy
Cozies are always a fun read with a happy ending and a good whodoneit along the way.
Savannah sounds like a great place for this book. I am also from the south. Thanks for the giveaway.
Hi, Jeanne
I love the South, a closet Belle at heart and have the pearls and baton…that I can actually twirl…to prove it. 🙂
This storyline sounds like it has lots of twists and turns!!
Hi, Lisa. Yes, it does. I doubt if you can figure out the killer even thought all the clues are there. 🙂 Have fun. Duffy
Thank you Duffy for interacting with my readers.
