Sometimes the best way to know a person is by asking questions, so let’s meet Elizabeth.

What is your name?
Elizabeth “Biz” Adams. Ralph Kaminsky, a reporter for the Daily Trumpet, gave me the nickname of Biz. I rather like it. What do you think?

How old are you?
I’m 22 and a recent graduate of Wellesley College.

What is your profession?
I’m a crime photographer for the Daily Trumpet, a NYC tabloid newspaper.

Do you have a significant other?
No. I’m keeping my options open.

Any children?
No—I’m not married. That would really shock everyone in my set if I did.

Do you have any sibling(s)?
Yes, I have a sister Rose who is 14 and a brother James who is 19.

Cats, dogs or other pets?
No. I live with my parents and my mother thinks pets are too messy. I’d love to have one though.

What town do you live in?
I live in New York City.

House or building complex?
Apartment building.

Do you rent or own?
I live with my parents who own an apartment on Madison Avenue.

What is your favorite spot in your house?
The kitchen. I love to sit and chat with Mrs. Murphy, our cook, while she prepares dinner.

Who is your best friend?
Irene Nowack is probably my best and oldest friend. We don’t see each other as much as I’d like.

Amateur sleuth or professional?
Strictly amateur.

Whom do you work with when sleuthing?
I work with Ralph Kaminsky although we don’t call it sleuthing, we call it reporting.

Favorite meal?
Tea in the Palm Court of the Plaza—tiny sandwiches, scones and clotted cream, miniature bites of cake. I love it all!

Favorite dessert?
Baked Alaska at Delmonico’s. They invented it, you know.

Favorite hobby?
Photography although it’s also my job now.

Favorite vacation spot?
Any place by the ocean.

Favorite color?
Red.

Favorite author?
F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Favorite sports team?
The New York Yankees of course!

Movies or Broadway?
I love both but there’s something special about seeing a live performance on Broadway.

Are you a morning or a night person?
As a working girl, I’m a morning person although I do love to go out to El Morocco and The Stork Club once in awhile.

In a few sentences, what is a typical day in your life like?
If it’s a working day, I’ll grab my hat and take the subway downtown to the Daily Trumpet offices. With any luck, Kaminsky will get wind of a story and we’ll take off. I might end up photographing the dead body at a murder scene or the empty safe at a bank that’s been robbed. Mrs. Murphy, our cook, packs me a lunch although sometimes Kaminsky and I stop by the Automat or Chock Full O’ Nuts for a bite to eat. After work, I either eat dinner with my family or head to The Stork Club with some friends.

You can read about Biz in Murder, She Reported, a historical mystery set in the 1930s, coming July 31, 2018.

A Park Avenue princess discovers the dark side of 1930s New York when a debutante ball turns deadly in this gripping historical mystery for readers of Victoria Thompson, Anne Perry, and Rhys Bowen.

Manhattan, 1938. Tired of being trapped in the gilded cage of her family’s expectations, Elizabeth Adams has done what no self-respecting socialite would think to do: She’s gotten herself a job. Although Elizabeth’s dream is to one day see her photographs on the front page of the Daily Trumpet, for now she’s working her way up as the newsroom’s gal Friday.

But fetching coffee isn’t exactly her idea of fun. So when veteran reporter Ralph Kaminsky needs a photographer to fill in for a last-minute assignment, Elizabeth jumps at the chance. At the Waldorf Hotel, Elizabeth is tasked with tracking down the season’s “It girl,” Gloria DeWitt, who will be making her society debut. Working her own connections to New York’s upper crust, Elizabeth manages to land an exclusive interview with Gloria.

Then Gloria’s stepmother is shot dead in a Waldorf bathroom, placing Elizabeth at the scene of a headline-worthy scandal: “Murder of a Society Dame.” Now Elizabeth will have to get the scoop on the killer before her good name gets dragged through the gossip columns—or worse. . .
