Emily sits down for a question-and-answer session with dru’s book musings so that we can get to know her better.
What is your full name?
Emily Mae Lickenson
What is your profession?
I blog for Whisker Treats, the greatest cat food company to exist!
Do you have a significant other?
Only if you count my Aunt Mattie.
What is their name and profession?
She thinks she is a detective due to her binoculars and all the things she’s spied in her neighborhood.
Are your parents nearby?
I’m an only child. Aunt Mattie has been like a mom to me since I was a kid. Now that I’m an adult, I can imagine how much she’s given up for me to make a home that’s been so amazing.
Who is your best friend?
It’s probably my friend Jessica, who owns the most fabulous bakery, Sweet Treats. Doesn’t the name say it all? She makes crullers that melt in your mouth.
Do you have cats, dogs, or other pets?
My rescue cat, Shakespeare. He’s amazing. Because of my work with the cat company, I get lots of things to try on him. He’s actually a good sport, and even loved some of them. A few of his favorites are the cat waterfall, and the cat leash. His least favorite is a little lion costume I got for him, but the mane is adorable. He pays me back by chewing on my hairbrush.
What town do you live in?
I just moved and now I’m enjoying (or at least getting used to) city life. It’s pretty shocking from the small town I was in. Not sure if I can make it work, but I’ll try.
What is your favorite spot in your home?
My reading nook with is write next to my blog writing corner. As long as I’m comfy with a mug of coffee, or tea, and my sweet cat Shakespeare, I can make any spot work.
What is your favorite color?
Is there a prettier color than sky blue? Just love it so much.
Are you a morning or night person?
Definitely night life! Oh, I don’t mean nightclubs or bars, although I love dancing. I just come alive as the sun sets.
What is your idea of a really fun time?
So, everyone knows I love to collect travel magazines. Specifically those geared toward island life. And it was just this year I learned something about my parents who disappeared back when I was a small child. Islands have something to do with it.
Amateur or professional sleuth and whom do you work with?
Totally Amateur! I have no idea how these things happen to me and I swear, I run from all mysteries. But I still seem to attract them like a picnic lunch and flies. I guess that makes me a fly. Hmm. I’ll need to rethink that analogy.
What is a typical day in your life like?
To give you an idea, here is a letter I recently wrote my aunt while doing some traveling in search for cat friendly hotels.
Dear Aunt Mattie,
First of all, how is Shakespeare doing? Tell me he hasn’t eaten your hair brush again. Be sure to take him for a walk because you know how he loves that. I swear I’ll bring you back some of the best chocolates Sweet Treats Bakery has as a thank you. And I’ll watch your dog, Al Cabone, for you too, the next time you and Gloria go on a girls trip.
I’m doing great and loving being in the sun. Detective Daniels won’t leave me alone. I think he’s rather perturbed at how you discovered who had been poisoning people last month. However, I also think he fears your sharp tongue because he is not bothering you. I wish I had your quick wit. This afternoon he asked if I thought you had any plans to move, and I said you were studying for your detective’s license. Since then I haven’t heard any more. Maybe I’m free!
In the meantime, please stay out of trouble. I mean it! I don’t want to hear any more excuses about how trouble finds you. Despite all the detective shows you watch, and the fact that you solved the case of your neighbors stolen car (along with his stolen wife, but that’s another story) I want you to remember it’s dangerous. Don’t make me worry!
Last but not least, I love you so much! You are very important to me so take care of yourself. Can’t wait to see you again. Kiss Shakespeare for me,
Love, Emily

About the author
CeeCee James, USA Today bestselling author who first started this writing world as a kid and continued on with bedtime stories for my own kids. I have a few mystery series –the Baker Street Mysteries, Angel Lake Cozy Mysteries, Flamingo Realty, Oceanside Hotel mysteries and more! I love creating new worlds and puzzling through cozy murder mysteries. My favorite sleuths are curious, kind, and a bit flawed. But they all learn that being flawed isn’t being broken, and that’s a life lesson I work on for myself.

I do! I enjoy writing notes to friends and family that live farther away.
I love this!
Shakespeare sounds adorable!
One of my favorite aspects of writing are the animals <3
I do still write letters occasionally for special occasions. Mostly, I stick with emails because of the quicker response.
same, although I used to write all the time
Congratulations on the new book! I don’t write letters anymore. Not even the Christmas kind. Texting and emails are cheaper than stamps.
Thank you <3 Same–It's hard to justify stamps when we can text and email instead.
I don’t write many letters or notes these days. I rather call my friends the write a note or letter or even a text. Your book sounds like a really fun read. Can’t wait to read about Shakespeare. I have 2 cats, Hamilton and Jefferson and make Mr smile everyday.
