I always say I have the best job in the world—mainly because it requires me to go scuba diving every day. Believe me, when you live on Grand Cayman, being required to dive as part of your job is no hardship.

I work seven days a week. Each day is always the same, and each day is different. Sometimes I sleep at my house on Rum Point, and sometimes I sleep on my boat, the Tranquility. Occasionally, I spend the night in the guest room at my father’s condo.

Doesn’t matter where I sleep, I’m up before dawn to get in my first dive of the day. Depending on where I’ve slept the night before, I may do a shore dive at the beach near my house, or I may take the Tranquility out for spin.

Somedays I dive alone—a no-no for recreational divers—but I’m a seasoned and certified pro. Other times, I dive with one of my coworkers if they’re up that early, or sometimes with a friend.

As chief underwater photographer and VP of marketing at RIO, the famed oceanographic institute, I get to indulge all my passions, diving, studying marine life, underwater photography, and chasing down the bad guys.

I didn’t know how much I would like that last part until my beloved stepfather was murdered a few years ago during a freedive, and I had to track down the real killer so I could stop blaming myself for his death. After that, I got involved in identifying drug dealers while on a search for buried treasure and then in rescuing my best friend from a ruthless kidnapper who had her stashed in an unthinkable location.

But now, I’m facing a truly lethal adversary—a category 5 hurricane laying waste to my beloved island. Somebody thought the storm would be the perfect cover for a murder, but that somebody didn’t recognize the lengths I’d go to for my family. I stumbled on the crime scene while trying to save my brother Oliver’s new boat from the ravages of the storm. The killer had tried hard to make it look like Oliver had done the deed, but I knew better. Oliver is a sweetheart.

Meanwhile, the drug dealers I thought we’d sent packing are back, peddling their dirty goods around the island. Their new delivery method is right up my alley, so the police ask me to go undercover and underwater to help track them down. In the water, I’m practically unstoppable, so I’m never afraid. Plus, I always have a plan. And a backup plan. Maybe even two.

In addition to storms, diving, murder, and drug trafficking, there’s a lot of other stuff going on. Anyway, I get to dive at some of the most exciting and beautiful locations in the world, and to see the most amazing creatures. I’m able to try out some of the very latest underwater technology. This time, it’s a personal submarine. And it’s even painted blue, my favorite color. Too bad it belongs to the drug dealers. . .

Category 5 Hurricane Willard is barreling toward Grand Cayman, but Fin Fleming, acting director at RIO, a world-famous oceanography institute, has everything under control.

Or so she thinks, at least until she realizes she forgot to send her stepbrother Oliver’s new boat to drydock along with the institute’s other boats. She risks her life to move his boat to safety. Then after the storm, while assessing the boat for damage, she makes a horrifying discovery that sets off the disturbing chain of events.

Maddy concentrates on an off-island project while Newton and Dane are still struggling to figure out their relationships with her. Benjamin suffers injuries during the storm, but Doc is around to bring him back to health. Stewie and Chaun work on rebuilding RIO, while Fin and DS Dane Scott go after the bad guys.

And Fin is puzzled by Oliver’s erratic behavior. He’s flipping every few minutes from his usual sunny self to a snarling, angry shark snapping at everyone around him—especially Fin.

The usual fun stuff is happening too. A once in a lifetime chance to pilot a multi-million-dollar personal submarine. Rosie, the American Pygmy octopus, and Suzie Q, the Southern Stingray, are back, both doing their things. Plus there’s a crazy free-range rooster named Chico on the hunt for treats and bad guys.

And then there’s Liam. Always Liam. . .
