Hi Everyone:

This is Sarah. Sarah Osborne, author of the Flo and Maude Christmas Cozies. I thought about letting my characters speak for themselves. After all, they are the ones who do the work in the series, but then I realized I’d probably be the person to give the most objective description of these books as my characters have their quirks. Flo might come across as a little too adamant, and Maude might be too modest to tell you the whole story. Young Kate would undoubtedly be too busy to spend time talking about adventures she’d much rather be pursuing.

Therefore, it’s up to me. I don’t mind. I love to write. My latest book, Flo and Maude Save A Santa, takes place in Maine, a wonderful state to visit. It all happens in Menescotta, a fictional town close to the town Barbara Ross uses in her Maine Clambake Mysteries. For those of you who know Maine, it won’t take long to see the similarities between Menescotta and Damariscotta—both towns are around one hour from Portland. So, if you’re visiting Portland, add Damariscotta to your travel plans—especially if you’ll be there in October or around Christmas for their festivities. You would not believe how hysterical their giant decorated pumpkins look sitting outside the businesses on Maine Street. Look online for those from this year and plan on a visit next year. Or better yet, visit my website at doctorosborne.com and sign up for my monthly newsletter. It’s all there.

Enough of that—sometimes I forget I’m not a travel agent.

Back to the story.

Flo and Maude are two eighty year olds—plus a little—who have developed an ability to keep people from getting killed. They do this especially well around Christmas when no one should be murdered. They even managed to turn their particular skill into an agency: The Old Dames Protection Agency (ODPA). Kate is much younger and serves as a bodyguard when they need muscle or a gun. She also runs the business-side of the operation.

In the first book, Flo and Maude Christmas Capers, these three prevent murders in five quick-read mysteries. In the second book, Flo and Maude Save A Santa, it is one particular Santa—Bob Quellette—who appears to be in danger. He’s been playing Santa in the town of Menescotta for fifteen years, but this year someone apparently wants to end his reign. Bob isn’t an easy man to know and he has a temper. But do you kill a man for being a recluse or for blowing up on occasion?

I think not.

No worries. Flo, Maude, and Kate will sort it all out. Kate is usually vigilant, ready to handle any real danger that might occur. However, in this book, she seems distracted as if she has a connection to Mennescotta she’s reluctant to acknowledge or talk about. But that too will get sorted.

This book (like the previous one) is for people who have too much to do during the holidays—that would be women. I want to give them a break that will hopefully provide a little humor, a little warmth, and a not-too taxing mystery to solve.

Each book is a stand-alone and can be read in any order.

I’ll send a boxed set including both books to someone who offers a comment below.

Happy Holidays!

Sarah

Octogenarians Flo and Maude, with younger sidekick Kate, are asked once more to prevent a murder before it happens. A Santa in Maine has been threatened. His Santa suit has been viciously ripped to shreds. Is the perpetrator done with mischief or are they intent on destroying more than just a costume?

Menescotta is famous for many things—its oysters, its magnificent fall festival, and of course its Christmas parade and festivities. Bob Quellette has been the town Santa for fifteen years now, but will he live to see a sixteenth season? Will the town get to watch him riding his magnificent sleigh through Main Street once more? And what has Bob done that could make a person mad enough to want to kill him?
