It’s 4am, and I’m standing over a corpse, murder weapon in hand.

Welcome to the glamourous life of Goldie Locks, the head New Never City Homicide Detective. I can’t remember the last time I got a full night’s visit from the sandman, and it shows. The bags under my eyes are almost as deep as Baa-Baa-Black Sheep’s.

Being a cop wasn’t always my dream. But it makes my adoptive father, Judge Papa Bear, happy. Mama Bear would prefer to see me married to Beau White, the fairest man in all the land, and quite possibly the next mayor. You see, she has an obsession with grandbabies. My furry brother, Baybee, certainly isn’t helping in that department.

The victim on the ground didn’t die pretty. Then again, not too many little piggies do. The average lifespan of a member of the notoriously vicious gang is about as long as a house built with straw. By the number of wolf prints tattoos inked on his leathery skin, one for each Big Bad Wolf he’d stopped from huffing and puffing, this little piggy blew out more birthday candles more birthdays than most.

Standing under the glowing neon lights of the city, for a brief moment, I wonder how my own life would’ve turned out if, at fifteen, my boyfriend wouldn’t have jumped over a candlestick and out a window. He’d left me, an orphaned street kid, alone to face trespassing charges. While Judge Papa Bear had sentences me to months in juvie for the crime, he’d also welcomed me into his family, giving me the first and only real home I’d ever known.

I owe Jack B. Nimble for that.

But first I have a murder to solve.

I glance down at the pound of roast beef, fresh from the market, lying on the ground and shake my head. One thing is for sure, some little piggie wouldn’t be having roast beef tonight.

You can read more about Goldie in Cuffed, the first book in the NEW “Detective Goldie Locks” traditional mystery series, released February 11, 2019.

Detective Goldie Locks isn’t looking for just the right bed. Or any bed for that matter.

She’s on the hunt for a killer.

When she discovers the fingerprints of a once-upon-a-time lover, a man who jumped over a candlestick and out a window to leave her facing some serious trespassing trouble alone, at a crime scene, she vows to see him in handcuffs.

Jack B. Nimble has other ideas.

He threatens her adoptive family if Goldie doesn’t help him clear his villainous name, much to the chagrin of her current boyfriend and quite possibly the next mayor, Beau White, the fairest man in all the land.

Trying to prove his innocence turns out to be harder than she expected, especially when Jack refuses to aid in his defense, and instead, starts a campaign to ‘win’ her back. Goldie might be a blond, but she’s far from dumb enough to fall for his charms a second time.

Or so she tells herself every time his lips meet hers.

The deeper she plows into the rabbit hole and Jack’s soul, the more she learns about his motives for returning to the city—Destroying her perfectly crafted life.
