Hope Early first appeared in The Uninvited Corpse and one of the best ways to learn about a person is by asking questions, so let’s get to know Hope.
What is your name?
Hope Early.
How old are you?
Mid-thirties. That’s all I’m saying on the subject. 🙂
What is your profession?
I’m a food blogger. Prior to blogging full-time, I was a magazine editor.
Do you have a significant other?
Not at this time. I am divorced.
Any children?
No. I do have a dog. His name is Bigelow. He’s the sweetest little guy but he’s definitely a handful.
Do you have any sibling(s)?
I have one sister, Claire Dixon.
Do your parents live near you?
No. They’re in Florida now.
Who is your best friend?
Drew Adams. We’ve been best friends since grade school.
Cats, dogs or other pets?
Besides Bigelow, I have chickens. I love their fresh eggs.
What town do you live in?
I live in Jefferson, Connecticut. Jefferson is tucked away in the northwest hills of the state.
House or building complex? Own or Rent?
I own an old farmhouse complete with a front porch and barn.
What is your favorite spot in your house?
My kitchen. It was the first room I remodeled after I bought the house. Because of my job I spend a lot of time in that room.
Favorite meal? Favorite dessert?
I have so many. I love pot roast and I make it every chance I get. And I’m in love with chocolate cake.
Favorite hobby?
Hmm. . .I knit. But not as much as I used to. I love to garden. I can’t wait until next spring when I’ll get to plant my first vegetable garden.
Favorite author?
Oh, that’s easy. Debra Sennefelder. But don’t tell Jane Merrifield I said that. 🙂
Favorite vacation spot?
I love the beach. I’ve been so busy lately that if I had a chance to get away to any beach that would be my favorite beach.
Favorite sports team?
I don’t follow sports.
Movies or Broadway?
That’s a tough one. I’d say movies these days. I don’t get into the city much and when I do it’s mostly for work.
Are you a morning or a night person?
Definitely a morning person.
Amateur sleuth or professional?
Amateur sleuth.
Whom do you work with when sleuthing?
My best friend, Drew Adams (he’s a local reporter) and Jane Merrifield (she’s a retired mystery author).
In a few sentences, what is a typical day in your life like?
My day starts very early with barn chores. The chickens need to be fed and watered. Then I get out for a run. Once I’m showered and dress, my workday begins. I’m testing recipes, writing blog posts, creating content for various e-products and these days I’m taking a food photography class to improve my skills and I’m tracking down the person responsible for killing a friend of mine. Yeah, my days are pretty much jam-packed.
Thanks so much Dru Ann for inviting me to share a little bit about myself with your readers!
You can read about Hope in The Hidden Corpse, the second book in the “Food Blogger” cozy culinary mystery series, released March 26, 2019.
Former reality TV baking show contestant and recent divorcée Hope Early is trying to find her recipe for success as a food blogger—but murder keeps getting in the mix . . .
When Hope’s elderly neighbor perishes in a home fire, she can’t help but feel somewhat responsible. Only the day before, Peggy Olson had called her over, having burned a pot on the stove while she was sleeping and filling the house with smoke. In fact, she couldn’t even remember cooking. Clearly, it was dangerous for the woman to live alone.
But it turns out she wasn’t alone. When a second body is discovered in the basement of the burned house, suddenly what appeared to be a tragic accident is beginning to look like premeditated murder. As rumors spread like wildfire, Hope is determined to sort out the facts and smoke out a killer, but she might be jumping from the frying pan straight into the fire.
Includes Recipes from Hope’s Kitchen!
