Sometimes the best way to know a person is by asking questions, where you can learn more about what makes them tick. Let’s see what Jane has to say.

– – Jane Steward

What town do you live in?
– – Storyton, a quaint village in the western part of Virginia.

Do you rent or own?
– – I live in what was the hunting lodge of my ancestor’s English country estate. I can’t say that I really own it, because Storyton Hall belongs to my great-aunt and -uncle.

House or building complex?
– – House. Actually, half a house. The garages make up the other half.

What is your favorite spot in your house?

Are you a morning or a night person?
– – Both. I work all day, but sometimes, work also requires attending parties, balls, and fancy dinners.

In a few sentences, what is a typical day in your life like?
– – I’m in charge of a very large staff at our resort for bilbiophiles, so there’s always tons to do. Plus, I’m constantly on guard for those in search of our secret library. In addition to these jobs, my most important role in life is raising my sons and spending time with friends and family. We all love to talk books and enjoy our afternoon tea!

You can read about Jane in Murder in the Locked Library, the fourth book in the “Book Retreat” mystery series. The first book in the series is Murder in the Mystery Suite.

Welcome to Storyton Hall, Virginia, where book lovers travel from near and far to enjoy the singular comforts of the Agatha Christie Tea Room, where they can discuss the merits of their favorite authors no matter how deadly the topic . . .

With her twins, Fitzgerald and Hemingway, back in school, Jane Steward can finally focus on her work again—managing Storyton Hall, and breaking ground on the resort’s latest attraction: a luxurious, relaxing spa named in honor of Walt Whitman. But when the earth is dug up to start laying the spa’s foundation, something else comes to the surface—a collection of unusual bones and the ragged remnants of a very old book. The attendees of the Rare Book Conference are eager to assist Jane with this unexpected historical mystery—until a visitor meets an untimely end in the Henry James Library. As the questions—and suspects—start stacking up, Jane will have to uncover a killer before more unhappy endings ensue . . .
