Hello and thanks for coming in! If you’d like to have a seat in the booth, today’s specials are eggs over easy, a tall stack of pancakes (because who needs short?), and bacon so crisp it stands up by itself! I’m Jax Tapman and I’ll be your waitress this morning.
Yeah, things are hopping in here today, but I promise our cooks are up for the rush. We had another murder last night and that seems to make everyone in town want to come in for a good cup of coffee and to spill the tea. If you’ve heard anything you think might lead to whodunnit, we’re ready to write it down. We’re putting them all on a receipt spike in the back so I can help my dad out if possible. As a detective in town, he’s really rocked about what seems to be going on around here.
Anyway, I’ll be back with your drinks and then if you’re ready to order let me know or take a few minutes. I highly recommend the creamed chipped beef. There’s another name some people call it, but we try to stay away from the four-letter words in the diner. My business partner Dani insists on it and I try not to go against her unless I absolutely have to.
Thanks for coming and let me know if you need a refill or think you might have heard something that will help us catch a killer. I’m here for either or both. Enjoy your breakfast and come back any time. We’re here to serve.

Welcome to the Sunny Side Up Diner, where the jukeboxes jive and the secrets thrive…
With her dream of opening a diner in her small hometown realized, Jax Tapman finally feels like her life is on the right track. She and her best friend and business partner, Dani, have lots of customers. Things are promising with her new boyfriend, Eliot. And she’s looking forward to a relaxing evening at the local movie theater with Dani and her bestie’s mom. Unfortunately, there’s one thing that can always ruin a gal’s good mood—murder.
When the curtain goes down on the film, Jax finds a woman’s dead body in the front of the theater. Worse yet, the victim was last seen alive in a knock down drag out fight with Dani’s mom. Suddenly Dani’s desperate, her mom’s a suspect, and Jax finds herself caught up in another murder investigation that has her in way over her head. She quickly finds that diving into the history of the two older women is not as easy as whipping up the fluffy pancakes everyone loves on a Sunday morning. Between the secrets, lies, and a pair of mysterious keys Jax finds hidden in her vintage jukebox, she’s not sure who to trust. With her friendship on the line and danger closing in, it’s up to Jax to uncover the truth…or die trying.
About the author
Misty Simon always wanted to be a storyteller…preferably behind a Muppet. Animal was number one, followed closely by Sherlock Hemlock… Since that dream didn’t come true, she began writing stories to share her world with readers, one laugh at a time.
Touching people’s hearts and funny bones are two of her favorite things, and she hopes everyone at least snickers in the right places when reading her books. She lives with her husband in Central Pennsylvania where she is hard at work on her next novel or three. She loves to hear from readers so drop her a line at misty@mistysimon.com.
Thank you co much!
