Valerie Yvette Curry. But call me Jinx.

How old are you?

What is your profession?
Private Detective.

Do you have a significant other?
It depends on the day of the week and the mood that I’m in.

Do you have any children?
A sassy fifteen-year-old. What can I say? I started young, but I’ve matured.

Do you have any siblings?
Brandon, and Karla.

Are your parents nearby?
My father is deceased, and my mother lives in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

Who is your best friend?
Shalonda. She’s a fashion influencer who is forever trying to rehab my manner of dressing.

Do you have cats, dogs, or other pets?
No pets, unless you count the guy I’m dating whom most women consider a dog. But I’m training him to love and respect me.

What town do you live in?
Duluth, Georgia.

What type of dwelling do you own or rent?
I own a three bedroom townhouse. Perhaps, I shouldn’t say “own” because I’m not finish paying off the mortgage.

What is your favorite spot in your home?
My bathroom. I love unwinding by taking long showers or even longer bubble baths.

What is your favorite meal and dessert?
My mom’s tuna casserole with lemon merengue pie.

Do you have any hobbies?
I’m working on getting one.

What music do you listen to?
I listen to sports talk shows.

What is your favorite color?
Red.

What is your favorite vacation spot?
Las Vegas.

Are you a morning or night person?
A morning person.

What is your idea of a really fun time?
Dinner and a movie with my daughter and playing with my boss.

If you were to write a memoir, what would you call it?
All Money Ain’t Good Money

Amateur or professional sleuth and whom do you work with?
A professional working with Capricorn Hayes—my boss.

What is a typical day in your life like?
There are no “typical” days. After showering and interacting with my teen daughter, I head to the office to complete matrimonial work—which I hate. Or, I’m assigned real cases like the missing persons case of a U.S. congressman’s granddaughter. Except for snapping the money shot on a matrimonial case, there is nothing “typical” about outrunning bad guys.

She holds an MS in Publishing from Pace University and a BA in English/Technical & Scientific Communication from Miami University of Ohio. She enjoys attending and watching sporting events with her daughter, Asia. She lives in suburban Atlanta, Georgia with her spoiled pooch.
