Hi ya. I’m Kandi and I live in the awesome town of Carolan Springs, Colorado. It’s so beautiful here, and like, the people are so friendly. Except Ralph, my next-door neighbor, who is—or should I say, was—so grumpy. But he got killed and, like, everyone blamed me. Can you believe it? But thankfully, my new next-door neighbor, Anne is a lot nicer, although she has her moments. I think it’s cause she’s, like, older or something.
Anyways, I wanted to give you some idea of my day. Well, first thing I get up and stick my hair up in a ponytail so it’s outta my face. Then I head outside to let the girls—my chickens—out of the coop. They’re so funny and I love how they act when I throw them some scratch or leftover salad fixings. After I make sure they have food and water and are secure in their run—don’t want no rascally raccoons or other critters getting them—it’s time for breakfast. There’s nothing better than fresh eggs. Because I get them daily from the girls I leave them in a basket on my counter. Do you know that you don’t have to refrigerate fresh eggs? Yep, it’s true. They do it for store bought eggs because they clean off the shells and it takes away the protective layer. If you go to other countries, you’ll never see eggs in a cooler. They’re all just sitting on the shelf. Fresh eggs have such bright orange yolks. Having my girls has made me a bit of an egg snob. If you’ve had fresh eggs, you know what I mean!
After taking care of the girls, I decide what I want to make for breakfast. Sometimes I’ll go over and see if Anne, wants to eat with me. She loves my cooking, so I’ll make us a frittata or omelet. I have a garden out back and so it’s easy to add some goodies to whatever egg dish I’m making. Then I may drive into town and do some errands. I’ll visit with Faith if Hope has an herbal consultation or head down to Sorcha’s to pick up a book or two. Most of the time I just putter around the house or out in the yard around my garden. Then it’s back in to start planning something for dinner. If my hubs, Jeff, is away on business, then I’ll invite some friends over to try out a new recipe. Did I say I love cooking? I do! I think I’m pretty good at it if I do say so myself. Which I just did.
After that I may go over to Anne’s. She doesn’t have anyone, so I know she’s lonely so I’m, like, helping her out by visiting her. She’s going to put in a garden and I’m going to help her. I’m not sure why she bought this big old house when she’s all alone, but I think we are a bit of kindred spirits. I’m trying not to say like so much and since she’s pointed it out, I’m doing, like, better. She’s like a big sister or something. Well, I hope you enjoyed a glimpse into my day. I think it may snow. Can’t wait.

I am not familiar with this author and would love to win her book. The cover reminds me of my childhood and my parents would slaughter the chickens that were past their egg-laying stage. Usually I wasn’t around when they did this but my brother would tell me how the chickens would still run around even without their heads. lol!
Sounds like a fun book although I am craving some eggs after reading this post!
Thanks for the chance to win a copy! 🐔🐤🥚🥚🥚
