What is your full name?
Kate Connolly

How old are you?
Well, a lady doesn’t give her real age, does she? How about I’m in my thirties and just had a baby!

What is your profession?
I’m a budding Private Investigator. Working on my license!

Do you have a significant other?
The love of my life is Jim Connolly!

What is their name and profession?
Jim is an ad guy, super creative, runs his own ad agency now.

Do you have any children?
Our baby is Laurie and I’m pregnant with twins! Whee.

Do you have any siblings?
Andrew lives in Pennsylvania. I miss him. Maybe it’s time for a visit?

Are your parents nearby?
My wonderful mother, Vera, lives nearby and is my fearless companion, champion, and babysitter. She’s dating my boss. . .but oh well, nobody’s perfect 🙂

Who is your best friend?
Paula, my dear friend ever since grade school.

Do you have any pets?
One kitten, Whiskers.

What town do you live in?
San Francisco! The beautiful city by the bay!

Do you live in a small town or a big city?
San Francisco is a small big city! LOL.

Type of dwelling and do you own or rent?
We own our home and are having to do costly renovations to make room for the twins arriving soon!

What is your favorite spot in your home?
Kitchen, hands down – it’s where the food is. . .did I mention I’m pregnant with twins?

Favorite meal and dessert?
Anything! How about Pizza and brownies. . .or lasagna and cookies. . .or spaghetti and tiramisu. . .(hmmm, maybe I’m partial to Italian?)

Do you have any hobbies?
I have a newborn and am pregnant with twins and chasing down bad guys – no time for hobbies. . .except if napping counts. Does napping count?

What is your favorite vacation spot?
Ah. . .vacation. . .sounds like a dream. Probably Lake Tahoe – it’s as much as we can manage at the moment!

What music do you listen to?
80’s hits, because Michael Jackson is the best. . .wait. . .80’s Madonna, Prince, George Michael, yes – George Michael not Michael Jackson – although I like him too.

Do you have a favorite book?
Right now I’m reading “There’s a Wocket in my Pocket” on repeat to Laurie – does that count?

What is your idea of a really fun time?
Eating. . .oh wait, I think I said that before. My fun time is hanging out with my family and friends, watching a movie, eating (there’s the eating again) popcorn, and snuggling together. My mom is super fun and funny so if she’s around, even better.

If you were to write a memoir, what would you call it?
The Postpartum Detective

Amateur or professional sleuth and whom do you work with?
Working on becoming a pro. My mentor is retired SF Inspector Albert Galigani.

In a few sentences, what is a typical day in your life like?
Baby cries, I get up to take care of her. It’s usually the middle of the night, so I’ll try and get back to sleep, but my life is so busy that usually, sleep will be limited. When I’m not on a case, I’m a typical mom. Caring for the baby, doing endless laundry, cooking, and cleaning.

What does a typical day look like when you are on a case?
Of course, there’s nothing typical about being on a case. A lot of running around San Francisco following leads, negotiating child care between Jim, my mom, and my wonderful babysitter Kenny and best of all hopefully – taking down the bad guy – mommy style. Because there is no one as ferocious, tenacious or committed as a mom!
