Ken Stein sits down for a question-and-answer session with dru’s book musings so that we can learn more about what makes him tick. Let’s see what Ken has to say.

What is your full name?
Ken Stein. My sister’s name is Fran. Our parents had a sense of humor.

How old are you?
Let’s just say I’m in my 30s.

What is your profession?
My sister and I own a private investigation firm that specializes in helping people who were adopted find and connect with their birth parents, if all parties are amenable.

Do you have a significant other?
Always. Not always the same one.

What is their name and profession?
I’ve been sworn to secrecy.

Do you have any children?
I could say, “Not that I know about,” but the answer is actually no, I don’t.

Do you have any siblings?
My sister Fran. Also in her 30s. She’s the only person in the world who is like me.

Are your parents nearby?
They haven’t been around since Frannie and I were small. They say there are agencies or other parties searching for us and they’re staying away for our safety. I have recently begun emailing my mother on occasion.

Who is your best friend?
Probably my sister. Don’t tell her that.

Do you have cats, dogs, or other pets?
I am my own pet.

See above. It’s small, but uncomfortable.

Probably the kitchen. I like to cook and I REALLY like to eat.

Who has time?

What is your favorite color?
Whatever she’s wearing.

This is a family blog. I really can’t say.

If you were to write a memoir, what would you call it?
You Won’t Believe Me.” Because you wouldn’t.

Amateur or professional sleuth and whom do you work with?
We are professionals. Our only staff is our assistant Igavda, and most of the time we don’t know what she’s saying.

What is a typical day in your life like?
The minute I have one I’ll let you know.

New York private investigators – and super-sized, ever-so-slightly-paranormal siblings – Fran and Ken Stein are back in business. Thirty-two-year-old Austin Cobb is trying to find his birth parents to get an answer for a deeply rooted question: Was he put up for adoption because he’s on the autism spectrum?

Fran and Ken personally know about abandonment, due to their parents leaving to keep them safe, hence the reason they founded K&F Stein Investigations. So naturally they want to help Austin and bring him good news.

But the more the PI duo investigate, the more they find themselves in an entangled plot involving abduction, fraud and murder. Having their past catch up with them and posing a threat to their existence and their parents puts them into even more peril than they bargained for . . .
