Hello, I’m Kinsey Reed. My author wanted me to drop in and give you an account of my daily routine. That seems like an easy task:
When I’m working at the library, my day begins at 7 am sharp at the most. I give some love to my cat, Paige. Then it’s time to walk, Hercule. He’s a full-grown Bull mastiff, not easy to do when you’re 5’6, and weigh only 108 pounds, but l mangle. At 7:30 I get back home. I do my stretches, shower, get dressed in my usual hipster librarian clothing: some kind of t-shirt or blouse, long skirt, cardigan sweater, clogs and a tote, after a quick breakfast, I’m out the door at 8:20. I always make a detour to my bestie, Sierra’s, coffee shop at 8:30. With all that, I make it to work at 9:00.
Our library in quaint Prairie Brook always opens by 9, open till 8:00, on weekdays and closes at 6:00 on Saturdays. It’s located in an old building that used to be the original courthouse for Eden County. The Prairie Brook Historical Society and Museum are located on the upper floors of the building, and we’re located on the main level. I enjoy working hard, being surrounded by my books every day, and helping readers find what they’re looking for. At 12:30, 1:00 I take half an hour lunch usually walking down to the main café on Broadway, what we call Main Street in Prairie Brook, then work until 4:30, or sometimes I volunteer to stay later, without pay, in case of my boss Louise Randall needs help with a special project.
Then I go home, spend time with my animals. Go to bed and repeat the cycle again. Except for Fridays and Sundays, Sunday is a given because Prairie Brooke is one of those old conservative towns, even though we’re big enough to have a small shopping mall, Walmart, and a small college. Most businesses on “Main Street”, including the library, close on Sundays. That is church day and family time for me. On Fridays, I sleep in, or at least try to. I get errands done, then connect with my friends, stopping by to greet Wyatt at his uncle’s bookstore, grabbing lunch with Sierra, or having coffee with Alex, when she has time away from her paralegal job at a local law firm. Even stopping by at the hardware store to check in with my dad, or at my mom’s tea shop/bakery. I still make it home in time to curl up with a good book.
Then there’s the second Wednesday of every month, that’s one of those days that I stay at the library after shift. It’s when I host the Booked 4 Murder Club, off shift, of course. It includes my three friends, Sierra, Wyatt, and Alex, there’s also Ruby Decker, who’s our resident Jessica Fletcher, and Sergeant Bea Ziegler with the Prairie Brook PD.
Thanks for the chance to stop by, and give you insight into my daily routine. I hope to be back in the chair sometime in the future, Dru.
