Hi, I’m Laken Miller. You’ll have to forgive me I’m totally out of practice. It’s been two or three years since I did an interview of any kind. Aside from talking to Diane and our local Glitter Bay gossip columnist, that is. As a former supermodel, I did interviews all the time on television, radio, and for magazines. Clothing and publicity were my entire life. Since I was diagnosed with cancer and left my B-List actor husband behind in Hollywood, my life has been a whole lot different.

My amazing sister, Sage, came to my rescue allowing me to move into her house with her and her kitty, Muumuu, while I healed. Part of being her roommate became helping out with her boutique Vintage Sage. Being a clothes horse since I was a kid, I loved it! So much, in fact, that I purchased the former Sweet Eden Tea House then so she could have a bigger, brighter space in a great area. We moved the store into the lower level and held a very eventful fashion show for our grand opening.

My English Sheepdog, Sammy, and I have made our new home in the upper level. A day in my life, normally involves getting up early and walking Sammy on the beach which is conveniently right outside our front door. We either have breakfast with my boyfriend Cameron, my sister, or alone before going to work at the shop. It’s nice to get to shop every day—or borrow clothes, clean them, and return them before my sister notices.

We recently added a new hire to the Vintage Sage team, Quinn Evans, who was the protégé of a designer I used to work with when I first started in the industry who was murdered in our new shop before it opened. Long story. Quinn is a transgender fashion designer who has taken over my sister’s house with glitter, feathers, and fabrics. Part of my day is usually spent keeping the peace between Sage and Quinn.

The other part sometimes ends up with me trying to solve a death in Glitter Bay. And fending off Enid Walsh, the gossip columnist I mentioned earlier.

At night, I’m entertained by the scratching sounds of a critter in the ceiling. I hope it’s a squirrel or something equally as little and cute. I have a feeling though that it might be something a whole lot bigger.
