Hello, everyone. I’m Lexi Carmichael, a twenty-five-year-old geek girl. I spend my days stopping computer hackers, gaming and living my life online. My nights? Those I spend avoiding my mother and eating cereal for dinner. Even though I work in a top-secret industry, until one year ago, I was a desk jockey who barely saw the sun. I’d never been in an exciting car chase, sipped a stirred (not shaken) martini, or shot a poison dart from an umbrella. In fact, I was twenty-one before I got my driver’s license, twenty-four before I bought something other than white cotton underwear, twenty-five before I went on my first real date, and I’m still afraid to go shopping alone.
I’ll be honest, I’m not a people person. Most people annoy me. It’s not that I’m anti-social—I’m just not user friendly. In fact, I’d rather endure twenty-six pap smears than be forced into small talk—yes, even with you.
Yet somehow, as I muddle along in my career, my path collides with brilliant hacking twins, a sexy government secret agent, a rich, handsome lawyer and lots and lots of bad guys. Hacking, espionage, sexy men—it’s a geek girl’s dream come true…as long as it’s online. When it’s happening in real life, it’s a lot for a girl to handle.
Now I’m traveling around the world from Rome to Indonesia to Africa stopping cyber criminals for the U.S. government and trying not to look too dorky while I’m doing it. I’m even dating, which is a miracle, and making a good faith effort to interact with others outside of my safe virtual cocoon. It’s not an easy path, especially since my newfound friends believe a little black cloud is following me around, but I’m trying. That’s me—saving the world, one brain at a time.
NO LIVING SOUL is Book 9 in the humorous Lexi Carmichael mystery series published by Carina Press and was released January 2, 2017.
Although I never expected it, my work as a computer geek has me traveling around the world, solving mysteries and fighting bad guys. Sometimes with my friends, but always with trouble by my side. So, you’d think by now, I would’ve expected to be plagued by danger when I headed to Egypt with my best friend, Elvis Zimmerman, and boyfriend, Slash, to help track down Elvis’s missing and estranged father. Nope.
Genius runs in the family, and we quickly discovered Elvis’s father is hot on the trail of an ancient and elusive artifact. One that people are willing to kill to find. Tombs, tablets, scarabs, and code come together as we follow a set of clues that has been waiting millennia to be discovered. Cracking code is my specialty, but I never expected to tackle one from fifteen hundred years before the advent of written language.
But the sands of time are running out. We are facing death as it was before the pyramids even existed. If the artifact falls into the wrong hands, we won’t be able to rewrite history. So, it’s up to us to find and safeguard the secret to ensure no living soul ever encounters it. . .again.

The character sounds pretty eccentric- something I always appreciate! I live in Virginia, but will always be a New Yorker.
I’m from Virginia, too!! (northern VA). Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
I’m from New England.
I lived in northern Maine for 7 years. 🙂
I think Julie is an excellent author and I would love to read this newest book of her series! Thanks Julie for the opportunity to win a copy. Thanks Dru Ann for today’s choice!
Hi, Barbara!
I’ve always been partial nerd myself. I worked with the computer programmers monitoring the priorities of their jobs and their progress. Everyone kept saying, ” But you look so normal!!”.
Hahaha!! 🙂
I was born in Tennessee, grew up in SE Ohio, college in WV, and now live in Florida. The Lexi Carmichael series is one of my favorites and I’m on Chapter 44 of No Living Soul. 🙂
Hi, Sharon!! Thanks for stopping by!!! oxox
I have a family of geeks. Geeks rule!
Awesome. You and Lexi would get along great! LOL. 🙂
I’d rather be a geek than to be a run of the mill person. Geeks have some of the most interesting angles.
I agree 100%! Yay!! 🙂
Hi Julie! I’m in Aspen, Colorado ~
Hi, Celia! I went to Colorado College and went skiing at Aspen several times. What a gorgeous place!! 🙂
Fun write-up and so Lexi. Can’t wait to read her next adventures! And, yeah, I love being a nerd.

He loves to draw a winner!! Good luck?!?
I am NOT participating in giveaway; I have it. But I had to say that I love Lexi and Slash and Elvis. The only thing I don’t adore is that she isn’t a dog person, I see why but still, a only negative. NLS was as excellent as the first 8 books…loved it.
Hahaha!! No question Lexi is still a work in progress with animals. 🙂 oxoxo
I life in Gladbrook, Iowa. A farming community of 900+. Thanks for the giveaway.
A small farming town!! Sounds lovely. Thanks for stopping by Doward! 🙂
Thanks for the chance I’m here in NW PA where it’s going to get very cold soon BRR. Your books sound Great!
Hey cousin!! It looks like you come from the Moffett/Moffitt clan, too! Stay warm in PA. 🙂
Ya we talked about that on Facebook I’m Linda Buzard-Moffitt on there LOL Your books sound really good 🙂 I can’t wait to get to read them 🙂
Oh!! LOL!! You have more names than I do! Ha!! Happy New Year, Linda! 🙂
I have read a few adventures of Lexi Carmichael before and really enjoyed the stories and the laughs. It definitely is time to read another and this latest book sounds wonderful. I am from the northeast section of CT and after living in many towns and cities in MA for over 50 years, my husband and I have retired here in MA about 20 miles from our hometown in Ct. ..almost full circle that is for sure.
Wishing you continued success, Julie.
Cynthia
Thanks so much, Cynthia! 🙂
I am here from very cold Minnesota! Congrats on the new book and thanks for the chance to win!
Brrr…stay warm! 🙂
It’s neat that your son works with you on this. I have yet to read this author and would love to. The synopsis of the books have been most intriguing. Hope to read this one sooner. Rather than later. I’m in OR South Willamette Valley. Right now there is snow on the ground and it was 17 degrees when I last check an hour ago
17 degrees? Yikes! Snuggle up with a good book! 🙂
RI like the idea of a nine-year-old choosing me as winner.
Good luck!! 🙂
While nowhere near to being a computer geek, I can relate to the protagonist hating small talk. I live in northeast Ohio but am currently in northeast MI helping my daughter declutter in preparation for a move to MO and it is brrrrr, freezing here.
Brrrr…stay warm! BTW, I lived outside of Columbus for two years when I was in middle school (Rickenbacker AFB). 🙂
****WINNER!!*** Thank you for everyone that commented and for allowing my 9-year old to draw the winner from his Cub Scout hat. It’s one of his favorite thing to do and he always asks me, “Do you think they will be happy I drew their name?!?!” So, the winner of a copy of NO LIVING SOUL is…drumroll…ELIZABETH DODD!! Congrats!! You are ALL winners in my book!!! Get Your Geek On!! ooxoxoxo
