Hi Everyone, I know you were expecting my mom, Kate Buckley. I’m really sorry, but she isn’t home yet so this is Maeve, her daughter. I’m almost 15, and I can tell you anything you want to know about her life. Trust me on that. She’s a WFH accountant who plays the piano and helps Gram with the B&B. To be honest, she’s totally boring, except when she’s involved in a murder investigation. More on that later.
First, Mom is an amazing mom to me and my little sister, Bliz. It’s just the 3 of us because my dad is a musician who has an Irish rock band. In Ireland. We live in Brooklyn—well, we did until this summer. Now we’re in Shamrock, MA with my grandparents and Colleen, my cool aunt. She’s 24, so she’s tons younger than Mom. Gram runs our family’s B&B called the Buckley House, and my grandpa used to be the police chief in town. He’s retired now, but that was Gram’s idea. He still helps direct things, unofficially, from his wheelchair after he got shot by a guy he helped put in jail. Everyone still calls him The Chief, and the Buckley House is almost like a second Shamrock PD, with cops coming and going all the time. Sometimes that makes the guests a little nervous. One of those cops is Mom’s old high school boyfriend Gavin McGarrett. They pretend they’re just buddies. Suuuure.
I’m in the kitchen now, waiting for Mom to show up and watching Bliz draw pictures of our cat Banshee. I had to turn Gram’s countertop TV off because the news said a dead body was found near the fairgrounds, where the Great Shamrock Fair starts in 3 days. Mom went there this morning looking for our new rescue dog, who a guest let out of the backyard by mistake. Mom’s okay, because she texted me a few minutes ago that she found Irish Rover and they’re on their way home. But I bet she’s the person who found the body. Just like back in March, when we visited Shamrock for St. Patrick’s week and Aunt Colleen was accused of killing her best friend.
I’m about to find out for sure because a WSCK news van just pulled up outside the B&B. And someone let themselves in through the mudroom door and now I hear barking and dog toenails on the linoleum.
Sorry again, can we talk more about Mom’s life later? Rover ran through the kitchen with his muddy paws, and Bliz is trying to catch him. I’ll have more intel on the fairgrounds deal in 3…2…1…
“Oh, hi, Mom, you’re back! Bliz and I are fine. Just waving through the window to the news van out there. Anything you, um, want to mention?”

Kate Buckley returns to her Irish-themed hometown for the summer, but when her ex becomes the prime suspect in his fiancée’s murder, she must clear his name for the sake of their daughters, perfect for fans of Elle Cosimano and Carlene O’Connor.
Kate and her daughters, Maeve and Bliz, are back in Shamrock, Massachusetts, and Kate faces a big decision: Should they move back to their hometown for good? As she contemplates the idea, all the businesses in town, including her family’s B&B, the Buckley House, are busy preparing for the annual Great Shamrock Fair in hopes of luring back tourists after a murder during St. Patrick’s Week.
But when Kate’s ex, Ian, arrives in town from Ireland to perform with his band at the festival and his new fiancée, Fallon, is found dead at the fairgrounds, any chance of a fun and peaceful family summer goes up in green smoke.
Much as she wants nothing to do with her ex, Kate knows Ian is innocent. Amid the swirl of activity in town and her sister Colleen’s determination to keep the annual Miss Shamrock contests alive, Kate enlists her devastated eldest daughter and her father, the former Shamrock police chief, to help her unwind the trail of evidence.
With clues—and danger—piling up, can Kate find Fallon’s true killer and save her ex, before the Great Shamrock Fair and the town’s chances for a summer full of green go bust?

I’m so happy to see Kate and Maeve again!
Congratulations on your new book, Lisa!
Thank you so much, Mary! Maeve, Kate and I are happy to see you again, too.
Hi Mary, I don’t think I pushed Send on my reply earlier (sigh). Thank you so much!! Kate and Maeve are happy to see you, too.
Thank you, Dru Ann, for inviting the Buckleys back (and letting Maeve butt in).
Love the cover. Especially the look on that dog’s face.
Thanks, Lane! That dog’s name is Irish Rover–as in, the roving kind. The Buckleys had no idea when they adopted him that that sweet, elderly, arthritic dog would undergo an miraculous recovery!
Got to love books involving rescue dogs! 😘 This sounds like a fun read, looking forward to it.
Thanks so much, Kathy! I hope you enjoy the read.
