Hey, Dru!

This is Elizabeth, one of Liv Bergen’s sisters. There are nine of us in the band of Bergens and as you know, Liv’s seventh in line. I’m smack dab in the middle and the smallest, the one with spikey hair, standing to her right in the family photo she said she showed you.

Liv told me you read the latest in her continuing saga, Widow’s Might. She also told me how she met you in NYC, before you all had lunch. Don’t let the ‘incident’ you two had in the alley with those thugs get to you. I learned a long time ago, shit happens when you’re anywhere near Liv. She’s a magnet for trouble. So you probably don’t have anything to worry about. But Liv was worried enough to call me and ask me to get in touch with you. She said you’re not only super nice, but you have a great sense of humor and any friend of Liv is a friend of mine. So if you need anything, and I mean ANYTHING, you call me. Immediately. Especially if that Eddie Allegretti ever harasses you or any of your bloggers. You just say the word and I’ll make sure you never, ever hear from him again. Not that I think you have anything to worry about. Unless you keep hanging out with Liv. By the way, she said you held your own with those brutes. Quite the compliment, considering the source.

So how’d you like Widow’s Might? Your blog followers might be interested to know that Michael and I finished construction on the second bunkhouse, Phase II, for the Lost Boys campus last month, space being such a premium as it was for the kids. The Hanson’s concept has been so popular, the campus is practically busting at the seams. Helma and Ernif Hanson’s kindness and generosity will live on for generations.

Helma’s bees can hardly keep up with the honey those hungry boys keep demanding, which makes them care even more tenderly for the hives. And you’ll be happy to know the saddle sold at auction at a higher price than any of us ever dreamed, so thanks for giving Liv the name of that auctioneer. He did so well, we had enough money to commission a statue in dedication to the Hanson’s, which is the least we could do to memorialize what they’ve done to help all these wayward and abandoned boys. Liv’s idea of course.

I’m back home in Colorado now, the reins for the Lost Boys campus fully in the capable grip of the professionals trained to manage the place. They all seem to like the tiny town of Rochford and the beauty of the Black Hills of South Dakota almost as much as if they were native. Liv said to say ‘hi’ and tell you thanks for being such a good friend. She said she’ll call you when she gets back home from Quantico.

Remember, just call if you need anything. My number’s unlisted but Liv knows how to get a hold of me and I can be in NYC in no time. And if you’re concerned that the phone call is compromised in any way by Allegretti’s people, make sure you use the word ‘Pink’ early on in the phone conversation as the keyword to be cautious. That’s Liv’s favorite singer at the moment.

For now, be alert and keep safe.
