Hi, come on in. Sit down. Elizabeth Dexter at your service, but you can call me Liz. Everyone else does. Now, what kind of a place are you looking for? Single family home, duplex, condo? I’ve got a number of really great listings here in Vista Beach in all categories.
Oh, you’re not looking to buy property. You want to know what to do around town. You’ve come to the right place. I know pretty much everyone and everything there is to do around here. Since it’s October, we have a lot of Halloween related activities going on. There’s the business-to-business trick or treat event for kids and the pumpkin race, of course. Never heard of a pumpkin race? It’s an annual activity here in town. People decorate pumpkins, add wheels and race them down the hill near the pier. It’s great fun for everyone.
Then there’s the Halloween Holiday Boutique my decorative painting chapter is hosting. You really must stop by. We’re selling items we’ve all painted and, this year, we’ve added an escape room. It’s the latest rage. You’re locked in a room and you have one hour to solve the puzzles and get out.
Excuse me, I’ve got to take this. . .That was my BFF, Rory Anderson. You’ve heard of her? Right, you probably read those books about the murders she’s solved. I helped her with all those cases, you know.
I’m sorry, but I have to go. One of our friends is missing. Rory got a strange email from some company called Beyond The Grave. They send out messages when someone dies or goes missing. Kinda creepy, isn’t it? Anyway, Zelena Alvarez is a member of our painting chapter. I’ve got to go help find her. We don’t want to involve the police just yet, but we will if we have to. Dashing D (that’s Vista Beach police detective Martin Green) is Rory’s boyfriend. I’m sure he’ll help if and when the time comes.
Sorry I can’t spend more time with you. Here, take one of my business cards. I’m sure I can find you a place you’ll love here in Vista Beach.
Giveaway: Leave a comment below for your chance to win a digital copy (Kindle or Nook) of Designed For Haunting. The giveaway will end October 15, 2018. Good luck everyone! Bonus question: Have you ever looked for a missing person?
You can read more about Liz in Designed For Haunting, the fourth book in the “Aurora Anderson” mystery series.
October brings a message from Beyond The Grave. . .
Halloween is fast approaching in the quiet Los Angeles County city of Vista Beach, home of computer programmer and tole-painting enthusiast Rory Anderson. While her painting chapter prepares to open its annual boutique house, Rory receives an unexpected email from Beyond The Grave, a company that automatically sends out messages when someone dies.
“I think I have a stalker,” the message reads. “If you’re reading this I’m either missing or dead. My life may depend on what you do. Please find out what happened to me.”
Haunted by her friend’s disappearance and possible death, Rory begins her search with the help of best friend and fellow painter, Liz Dexter. Can they discover who has designs on the missing woman and uncover the truth before one of them becomes the stalker’s next victim?

I’ve been part of a search party for a missing person. We didn’t find her that day but she did turn up later.
Glad to hear she was found.
Never been around or known anyone who has gone missing. My husband has worked with a teacher who didn’t report to work one morning. She was ultra dependable so they immediately tried to contact her. Sadly, she had had a heart attack and passed away in her home.
Sorry to hear that.
My oldest daughter went ‘missing’ when she was about 2. She decided to follow a duck, while I had my back turned, when we were at a park. The mounted Park Rangers and all of our friends were searching for her. An elderly couple spotted her and brought her back. It was the scariest 45 minutes in my life!
I would have been freaking out. Very scary, but glad all turned out well.
My little brother got lost once when we were on vacation. He walked the wrong way down the road coming back from the beach to the cabin we were staying in. He’d walked about a mile before we found him. It was only about 500 feet from the stairs to the beach from our cabin so you’d think he’d have realized his mistake pretty quickly.
Glad you found him. I got lost in a department store when I was little. I was pretty scared. I wandered away from my mom. So happy when they found me.
The blurb on Designed for Haunting gave me the chills. Blessedly, I have never had to be involved with a missing person case. Thanks so much for your giveaway!
That’s what I was going for…chills!
I have never searched for a missing person.
No, I’ve never looked for a missing person.
Thank you for the chance to win a digital copy (Kindle or Nook) of Designed For Haunting.
What an intriguing service Beyond the Grave is.
This one’s made up of course, but there are real companies (some that have come and gone) that provide a similar service. It intrigued me when I read about one of them so I had to put it in a book.
Sounds like a great read. Thanks for the giveaway.
Beyond the Grave sounds like an interesting company.
Luckily, I have never had to look for a missing person. Looking forward to reading the book.
This is new to me. Receiving an email about someone missing or dead like this sounds creepy, but makes for a good story.
A creepy business featured at the creepiest time of year. I love it! I suspect I would enjoy it any time of year since I love anything to do with ghosts or beyond death, I love the covers on your books in this series!
Thanks for the chance to win a copy of this story.
I love the covers of my books too. This one is my favorite so far.
If the cover is this eye-catching I can only imagine what the story within is like. Thanks for the opportunity to enter the giveaway and also for including Sybil Johnson’s book on your blog.
