Liz Talbot and Nate Andrews are the sleuths in the Liz Talbot” private investigator mysteries. One of the best ways to learn about a person is by asking questions. So, let’s get to know Liz.

What is your full name?
Elizabeth Suzanne Talbot. If Mamma is mad at me, it’s E-liz-a-beth Su-zanne Tal-bot

How old are you?
Well, if you must know, I’m thirty-five. Sigh. Most days I feel older than that. I guess you could say I’ve seen a lot.

What is your profession?
I’m a private investigator, licensed by the state of South Carolina.

Do you have a significant other?
Yes, I’m married to Nate Andrews. He’s also my partner. Talbot & Andrews is our firm. We take clients from anywhere in the Charleston, SC area.

Do you have any children?
No, it’s just Nate and me. Well, and our Golden Retriever, Rhett.

Do you have any siblings?
My brother, Blake, is the police chief in Stella Maris, the island town I grew up in. I have a younger sister, Merry. Her actual name is Esmerelda, but no one except our parents ever call her that.

Are your parents nearby?
Oh, yes. Yes, they are. We all live in Stella Maris. I adore my parents, but some days my daddy can be a bit much. He’s a character, is what I’m saying.

Who is your best friend?
Colleen Stevens. About Colleen. . .she died when we were seventeen. She’s a guardian spirit.

Do you have any pets?
Yes. Rhett, my Golden Retriever. He’s the most uncomplicated male I’ve ever met.

What town do you live in?
Stella Maris—that’s an island near Charleston, South Carolina. You have to take a ferry from the north end of Isle of Palms to get there.

Would you say you live in a small town or a big city?
It’s a small town. Everyone there knows everyone else and all their relatives. It’s the kind of town where it’s hard to keep a secret. Everyone loves them so much they can’t resist sharing them on the front porch over a glass of iced tea.

Type of dwelling and do you own or rent?
Nate and I have a house on the north shore of Stella Maris. My grandmother left it to me.

What is your favorite spot in your home?
Hmm. . .I’d have to say on the back deck. I love to watch the waves roll in and crash on the beach.

Favorite meal and dessert?
Now that’s a hard one. Every meal is a celebration in my family. Truly, any meal shared with the people you love is special isn’t it? And don’t get me started on my mamma’s cooking—her culinary talents are legendary. But Nate and I recently had a delectable meal at Grill 225 in Charleston. It’s definitely one of my top three favorite meals: Creme d’ Crab to start, followed by a bib lettuce salad, then for the main course, filet foie gras—it’s this divine combination of the filet mignon with sliced foie gras, truffled Béarnaise, and a fig demi-glace. My mouth is watering just talking about it. Nate ordered sautéed Maitake mushrooms, creamed corn with jalapeño and cheddar, and hash browns as sides for the table. By the time the waiter was offering us dessert menus, we were stuffed. Naturally, that didn’t stop me from ordering the chocolate mousse cake.

Do you have any hobbies?
I love to read. Nate and Rhett and I run on the beach every morning. We stay pretty busy, so I don’t really have time for a traditional hobby, like gardening or sewing.

What is your favorite vacation spot?
St. John, USVI. Nate and I honeymooned there. We’ve been a few times, actually. We love it there. It’s not over developed like so many places.

What music do you listen to?
I love country music. Kenny Chesney is my favorite, though I’m not sure you’d call his music country anymore. It’s more island music, I guess.

Do you have a favorite book?
Hmm. . .I love so many books. It’s hard to pick a favorite. Three of my all-time favorites are Peace Like a River by Leif Enger; A Prayer For Owen Meany by John Irving, and Lucky You by Carl Hiaasen. I have very eclectic reading tastes.

What is your idea of a really fun time?
My friends and I like to sing karaoke at The Pirates’ Den.

If you were to write a memoir, what would you call it?
*** A Walk on the Crazy Side *** Or maybe *** I Was Never Bored ***

Amateur or professional sleuth and whom do you work with?
Like I mentioned, we’re licensed by the state of South Carolina—Nate and I are professionals.

What does a typical day look like when you are on a case?
One of us does background—pulling information from all of our subscription databases and public records-all like that. The other usually starts with interviewing the people closest to the client or the victim, depending on the kind of case.

**** And now, let’s get to know Nate ****

What is your full name?
Nathan Thomas Andrews

How old are you?
I’m thirty-five.

What is your profession?
My wife and I are private investigators. We run our own firm.

Do you have a significant other?
I do.

What is their name and profession?
My wife’s name is Liz—Liz Talbot. Like I said, she’s a PI.

Do you have any children?
No.

Do you have any siblings?
I have a brother. The less said about him the better.

Are your parents nearby?
Nah, they live in Florida.

Who is your best friend?
I guess that’d be my wife, Liz.

Do you have any pets?
We have a Golden retriever, Rhett. He was Liz’s before we were married. She named him that. I’d have named him a sensible dog name, like Buddy or Charlie or Scout.

What town do you live in?
Stella Maris—that’s an island near Charleston, South Carolina. I’m originally from Greenville, in the Upstate.

Would you say you live in a small town or a big city?
Small town.

Type of dwelling and do you own or rent?
We have a house. It’s ours.

What is your favorite spot in your home?
The back deck. It’s beautiful there.

Favorite meal and dessert?
My favorite meal is one we share on the back deck. Liz makes this shrimp salad I really like. Desserts? I like them all. But if I had to pick a favorite, she makes a mean key lime pie.

Do you have any hobbies?
Not really. I don’t have time for one.

What is your favorite vacation spot?
St. John, USVI.

What music do you listen to?
I like classic rock and country.

Do you have a favorite book?
Not really. I like Tom Clancy, Clive Cussler, that sort of thing.

What is your idea of a really fun time?
Hanging out with our friends at The Pirate Den.

If you were to write a memoir, what would you call it?
*** Y’all Won’t Believe This ***

Amateur or professional sleuth and whom do you work with?
Liz and I are professionals.

What does a typical day look like when you are on a case?
Sometimes we divide things up. One of us working on background, the other doing interviews. But we’ve had some really close calls lately. I like it better when we stick together, you know what I mean? Often, we work incognito. People tend to be more open when they don’t know they’re talking to detectives.

Lowcountry Boondoggle is the ninth book in the “Liz Talbot” private investigator mystery series, released June 30, 2020.

Private investigators Liz Talbot and Nate Andrews thought they’d put Darius Baker’s troubles to rest—then his recently discovered son ropes him into a hemp farm investment with his college buddies. When a beloved Charleston professor—and potential investor—is murdered, Liz and Nate discover Darius keeps the PIs on speed dial.

A shocking number of people had reasons to want the genteel, bowtie wearing, tea-drinking professor dead. Was it one of his many girlfriends or a disgruntled student? Or perhaps Murray was killed because his failure to invest meant the hemp farm trio’s dreams were going up in smoke?

Though Liz’s long-dead best friend, Colleen, warns her the stakes are far higher than Liz imagines, she is hellbent on finding the no-good killer among the bevy of suspects. But will the price of justice be more than Liz can bear?

Take a virtual vacation to Charleston in Susan M. Boyer’s latest Southern charmer, Lowcountry Boondoggle. It’s a trip you don’t want to miss.
