Can an end of summer beach festival turn deadly?

The short answer: It sure can, especially when a man is found shot dead under the boardwalk.

Hi! I’m Lucy Berberian, I ditched my life as a Philadelphia lawyer and returned home to my family’s Mediterranean restaurant, Kebab Kitchen, at the Jersey Shore. I wasn’t sure I wanted to stay, but not having to wear pantyhose, high heels, and business suits quickly grew appealing.

After thirty years as restaurateurs, my parents decided to call it quits. I’m now the manager of Kebab Kitchen and my head chef—who happened to break my heart after college—has convinced me to give him a second chance at romance. I was hesitant at first (after all, he does work for me), but Azad has shown me on more than one occasion that he’s changed and that he likes me. . .a lot.

Another benefit of staying home is that I get to stay with my long-time friend, Katie Watson, and her husband, an Ocean Crest police officer. I know I can’t crash in their guest bedroom forever, and I’ve been looking for my own place. Who knew housing at the Jersey shore was so darn expensive?

I owe a lot to this small town, and I decided to give back by helping with the end-of-summer beach festival. With a sand castle contest, live music beneath a bandstand, and a food and wine tasting on the boardwalk, the town is in full celebration. My job is to make sure the food and wine tasting go on without a hitch. I love food and this is right up my alley. With shish kebab from Kebab Kitchen, along with a variety of pizzas, barbeque ribs, freshly baked pies and bread, frozen custard, and much more, there’s something for everyone.

But when a full-of-himself arrogant store owner picks a fight with Katie over judging the sand castle contest, I have to step in. And when Archie Kincaid ends up shot dead under the boardwalk, things don’t look good for Katie.

I may not have a great relationship with the town’s sole detective, but that won’t stop me from helping my best friend. Soon, the list of suspects starts to add up along with heightened danger.

I just need to find the killer and prove Katie’s innocence before someone else gets skewered.

Just an average day at the Jersey shore.
