Do you like going to festivals? I do. By the way, my name is Lulu and I own this barbeque restaurant. It’s your first time here? Oh, I recommend the ribs, for sure. And don’t forget the spicy corn muffins to go on the side.
Yes, festivals can be a whole lot of fun and the barbeque festival in Memphis has got to win the prize for best all-around. It’s got it all—food, music, and food. Oops, I already said food, didn’t I? Well, the food is so tasty, I’ve got to mention it twice.
Some of my best friends have a booth this year. They formed a team for the barbeque competition. They’re huge Elvis fans, so they’re all dressing up like Elvis and Priscilla and what-all. They called their team Don’t Be Gruel. They’re having a fine time and it all sounds like a heap of fun.
The only thing that doesn’t sound fun is this guy named Reuben, who has the booth right next to them. Actually, he sounds like real trouble, and seems determined to drag my friends right into it with him.
Let’s hope everyone just takes a deep breath and settles down. After all, a festival is for having a good time.
Well, look at you! You ate the barbeque plate right up, didn’t you? Hope you saved some room for dessert…I recommend the peach cobbler with a scoop of homemade ice cream on top.
Thanks to Penguin, I have one (1) copy of RUBBED OUT to give away. Leave a comment to be included in the giveaway. Contest ends July 24; US entries only per publisher’s request.

Thoughts in Progress
The first three books in Elizabeth’s Memphis Barbeque series have been great novels and I am so anxious to get to read (and would love to win) book four. Food related and craft related books are a big lure to me, so I also got the first in the quilters series even though I don’t quilt, and I really loved it. Looking forward to this next one too. Glad to know about Myrtle Clover too as I had not heard of this series before this. Signed up for Elizabeth’s e-mail to be kept up to date. Keep up the great writing and continued success, Elizabeth. Thinking and talking about barbeque, I can’t wait to get to the grocery store today to pick up some ribs to make for dinner!!!! Oh the power of suggestion, especially when it comes to food……………….
New to me author, and now I want to read both series, they sound so interesting ! Thanks for the chance to win!
An author who is new to me, sounds like a series and a book which would hold my attention. Thanks, DruAnn.
I have read the first in this series but not been able to read any others. Would be nice to win.
I have not had a chance to read this series. Thanks for giving me a chance to start.

Thanks so much for coming by, everybody! I appreciate it, and all the kind words. Yes, the book has recipes, too: muffins, pineapple casserole, pimento cheese, bread pudding, 3 bean casserole, and mini cheesecakes. 🙂
I adore this series and would love to win book 4!
I love to go to festivals — well, more when I was younger; now I find I can’t walk or stand like I used to, and don’t have quite the energy. Still like them though.
Elizabeth Spann Craig / Riley Adams, how in the world do you come up with some many stories, and series? And they all sound like ones I *must* read! My TBR list just got about 11 books longer!

Would love to win this book.A new author to me sounds like a great series! Thanks Dru for the chance to win this book.
NOT A CONTEST ENTRY!!!!
Dru, you’re trying really hard to make me break my own rules about my TBR pile. I always place the NEWEST books at the bottom of the stack. This way I’m reading my books in the order they were published.
You are teasing me into going to the bottom of the pile and it’snotfair!
Another good book I would love to read. Thanks for the give-away.
I like this title! Thank you for the chance to win this book.

Adding Nancy Partridge Roessner to the contest. She is having a problem posting to this post.
A new bunch of recipes with a good read. Please include me in this giveaway. Thanks for the opportunity.
Looks like a Great Cozy Mystery. Can’t wait to read this book.
I love Memphis, but why didn’t I think there was a series on Memphis BBQs? Well, now I know better. Count me in. I’m hungry. judydee22002@yahoo dot com
Thanks again, everyone!
How do I think up so many story ideas, Donna? I think it’s because I listen so hard when people talk about things that get on their nerves (neighbors who leave up the Christmas lights until August, irritating people at the office, etc.) So many good reasons for people to get annoyed…and in mysteries…to murder! 🙂
I’ve been reading this series and love it and BBQ! So glad there’s a new one out! Count me in for the giveaway! Thanks for the chance to win a copy.
I would love to win this one.
Thank you for the chance to win a copy of Rubbed Out, Dru Ann and Elizabeth ~ It’s on my TBR List and can’t wait to get started on it! They all sound like Wonderful mysteries and I love that they are all set in the South! I Love Barbeque and would Love some peach cobbler with homemade ice cream right now! 🙂 Happy Reading and Writing~ Cheers~ Elizabeth
