Maizie Albright first appeared in 15 Minutes and one of the best ways to learn about a person is by asking questions, so let’s get to know Maizie.

What is your full name?
Maizie Marlin (after Daddy’s favorite gun, not the fish or baseball team) Spayberry Albright. Albright is my mother’s maiden name and my stage name, but she had me legally changed it when I turned eighteen.

How old are you?
Twenty-five.

What is your profession?
Currently, an assistant to a private investigator. In two years, I hope to be an actual private investigator.

Do you have a significant other?
In my dreams, it’s Wyatt Nash, private investigator. In real life, it looks like we’re headed in that direction, but he’s not much of a talker. At least when it comes to relationship statuses.

Do you have any children?
No. But fingers crossed that I’ll finally make it to the altar. After four engagements, I’m ready to make this one stick! But first, I have to get engaged again.

Do you have any siblings?
I have a six-year-old half-sister, Remi. Aka Remington Marie Spayberry, named after Daddy’s other favorite gun.

Are your parents nearby?
Currently, I live with my father’s family — Daddy, his wife Carol Lynn, and Remi. My ex-manager and still-mother, Vicki Albright, stalked followed me from Hollywood to Black Pine and now lives in Black Pine, too, in the Peanut Mansion. Quite a shock to us all. Daddy and Vicki haven’t spoken since around 2002. Now they have one thing in common: neither wants me to be a private investigator or in a relationship with Wyatt Nash.

Who is your best friend?
My besties in Black Pine are Tiffany and Rhonda of LA HAIR.

Do you have any pets?
I live with an ever-growing brood of Jack Russell terriers. But they belong to my father. And only listen to Remi.

What town do you live in?
Black Pine, Georgia.

Would you say you live in a small town or a big city?
A big-ish small resort town in the North Georgia Mountains. Developed by rich Southerns and carpetbaggers before the boll weevil invasion and stock market crash. Now developed by the film and TV industry due to cheap land, cheap wages, and cheaper taxes.

Type of dwelling and do you own or rent?
I live in what locals call “the DeerNose cabin.” DeerNose is my father’s hunting apparel company. Named and famous for the deer pee scent. Favored by hunters everywhere and not anyone else.

What is your favorite spot in your home?
The kitchen. While eating Carol Lynn’s fabulous Southern cooking.

Favorite meal and dessert?
Donuts. But I wouldn’t turn my nose up to anything carrying a decent amount of trans-fats and carbs. I had to eschew them for the first twenty-five years of my life in order to stay slim for the camera. Imagine the Easter Bunny leaving you celery and carrots in your basket instead of chocolate eggs. Yes, that was my childhood.

Do you have any hobbies?
Daydreaming about Wyatt Nash. Wait, did I say that aloud?

What is your favorite vacation spot?
As a child, it was Black Pine. As an adult, anywhere that’s not the Beverly Hills Jail “Pay to Stay” program.

What music do you listen to?
My current favorites are by bands whose members I met in rehab. It’s important to support your friends’ creative works.

Do you have a favorite book?
The Georgia Association of Professional Private Investigators Handbook. I have a test soon.

What is your idea of a really fun time?
It starts with Wyatt Nash and I on a legitimate case (that actually pays money) and ends with dinner. Beyond that, I’d rather not kiss and tell. But hopefully, it involves kissing.

If you were to write a memoir, what would you call it?
Originally it was entitled, All the World’s A Stage When Your Mother’s Also Your Manager. Currently, it’s more like an I-Spy.

Amateur or professional sleuth and whom do you work with?
I’m employed in private investigations even though I’m not licensed, so technically that makes me a professional. However, I believe minimum wage keeps me at amateur status.

In a few sentences, what is a typical day in your life like?
Every day is different in the private eye world. But when your ex-stage-manager-mother buys the private investigation office where you’ve been working, every day makes you die a little. Mainly for your ex-boss who has to be bossed around by Vicki Albright. Because she owns a celebrity management company your clients are hers. Most of your time is spent screwing in doorbell security cameras instead of chasing down cheating husbands. Not that I like cheating husbands, but at least I felt like I was more than a handywoman. Not that there’s anything wrong with handywomen, but…you get the picture.

Of course, now that Lili Liang, the famous Chinese action star, has asked me to look for her missing kung fu trainer, life is about to get a lot more exciting. Particularly when I believe I just found an industry spy. While screwing in a doorbell camera on her movie trailer.

Giveaway: Leave a comment below for your chance to win a digital copy (Kindle or Nook) of 18 Caliber. Giveaway ends April 25, 2020. Good luck everyone!

18 Caliber is the sixth book in the “Maizie Albright Star Detective” humorous mystery series, released April 14, 2020.

#WannabeDetectiving While ex-celebrity Maizie Albright’s dreams of becoming a for-real private investigator have not exactly been dashed, they have been slightly thwarted. Her ex-manager and still-mother, Vicki Albright, has taken the helm of Nash Security Services while rebuilding her entertainment management company. Sometimes with the same clients. Like Chinese action star, Lili Liang, who’s making the film Unlucky 18 in Georgia.

Thus far, Lili’s living up to her movie title. Her kung fu coach is missing. Her boyfriend’s disappeared. And her director, who gambled on her with the part, might be gambling with her life.

Maizie’s luck is also running out. Maizie and Nash find themselves struggling to balance a new partnership and new relationship between missing persons’ cases, wild goose chases, and tracking a bullet into dangerous places. Sometimes it’s enough to make a girl NOT want to put a ring on it. When it comes to facing an 18-caliber killer, what will Maizie put up as the target? Her heart or her life?

Books in the Maizie Albright Star Detective series: 15 Minutes, 16 Millimeters, NC-17, A View To A Chill, 17.5 Cartridges In A Pear Tree, and 18 Caliber.
