Everyone always says I’m go-go-go, but I’m just enjoyin’ life. I got me eight grandbabies, a sweet-as-pie daughter in law, and the best son anyone could ever ask for. When I ain’t busy bein’ Mee Maw, I like experimentin’ in the kitchen, spendin’ time with my friends in the Sweet Briar Ladies Society Sewin’ Circle, and watchin’ Taped with Melly and Kenneth every mornin’.
’Bout a month ago, Melly announced an essay contest ’bout friends and I knew I had to enter. So I got me a pen and some paper, and I wrote Melly ’bout my sewin’ circle friends—Victoria, Rose, Debbie, Georgina, Dixie, Beatrice, and my twin sister, Leona.
And you know what? Melly was so tickled by what I wrote, she invited me and the whole sewin’ circle to New York City to be on her show, Taped with Melly and Kenneth.
I’ve never been to New York City before.
Neither has anyone else in the circle ’cept of course Leona. She’s been everywhere.
Everyone was excited ’bout goin’, especially Dixie on account of the fact she was finally goin’ to meet John Dreyer, the man she’d been chattin’ with on the internet thanks to me, Beatrice, and Rose.
But then somethin’ horrible happened.
Somethin’ truly, truly horrible.
Dixie was arrested for John’s murder!
That’s right, murder.
Now, instead of sightseein’ and window shoppin’, we’re investigatin’. ’Cause if we don’t figure out what really
happened to John and why, Dixie won’t be coming back to Sweet Briar ever again.
