It’s me, Melinda Langston. I’m thrilled to be here again. Not sure if you remember, but I own Bow Wow Boutique, a high-end pet shop in Laguna Beach. I’d like to say not much has changed since I was here last, but that’s not the case. You know how it goes, one minute you’re selling diamond encrusted water dishes, then the next minute you’re being blackmailed. Here’s the kicker—the secret I’m keeping isn’t even mine, it’s my mama’s.
But that doesn’t seem to matter to Addison Rae, an up and coming Orange County pet chef. She has proof that my mama exercised poor judgment with Addison’s daddy years ago. Not one to crush my daddy’s heart, I decided it was best if Mama’s indiscretion was left in the past. Addison promised to hand the evidence over to me if I helped advance her career. I’ve done everything she’s asked of me, including helping her get the pet chef job at the ARL glamping fundraiser. Glamping, or glamorous camping, is a big deal in our oceanside town. Think oversized, celebrity RVs, king-sized beds, and Persian rugs.
So now I’m sharing a pimped out RV in the middle of the Laguna Hills with my feisty assistant, Betty, surrounded by fellow glampers who have secrets of their own, pampered pooches, and a vindictive blackmailer.
Just when I thought I was about to put the whole blackmail mess behind me, Betty discovered Addison’s dead body. Since I was seen arguing with Addison hours before her murder, I’m the homicide detectives’ number one suspect. If I can’t figure out who killed Addison, while keeping my secret safe, I could end up in jail. Did I mention that pesky TV reporter, Callum MavAvoy, who’s constantly sniffing around? He can’t seem to stay out of my way.
I’d really like to return to my boutique and go back to selling diamond encrusted water bowls, but first I have to clear my name and find the real killer.
